The Neighborhood:
Waterfront Chalet sits directly on Silver Lake in the peaceful Maple Falls area, surrounded by forest, mountain scenery and the slower pace of life near Mt. Baker.
The setting feels private and tucked away, while groceries, coffee and casual dining in Maple Falls are approximately 10 minutes away. The community of Glacier, local hiking trails, the Nooksack River and the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest are all within easy reach.
Silver Lake Park is only a few minutes from the home and offers additional trails, picnic areas, playgrounds and seasonal recreation. Mt. Baker Ski Area is approximately 45 to 55 minutes away depending on weather and road conditions.
In summer, the area is ideal for fishing, paddling, hiking and long afternoons by the water. Fall brings beautiful colors and quieter trails, while winter transforms the region into one of Washington’s most memorable skiing and snowboarding destinations.
This is a rural mountain and lake community rather than a resort town. Guests come here for the peaceful setting, fresh air, wildlife and easy access to some of the most beautiful outdoor recreation in the Pacific Northwest.
Other Things to Note:
Seasonal Rowboat Rental
A rowboat is available to rent for $25 per night, typically from April through October. Availability is limited, so we recommend reserving it before arrival. A signed Boat Rental Agreement is required before access can be provided.
Silver Lake
Silver Lake is a natural mountain lake. Water levels, aquatic vegetation and shoreline conditions can change throughout the season. The private dock provides the easiest lake access, and water shoes are recommended. There is no lifeguard on duty, and all water activities are at your own risk.
Sleeping Loft
The four twin sleeping spaces are located in the open upper game room rather than a private bedroom. They are arranged as two twin beds with two pull out twin trundles and are best suited to children, teens or guests comfortable sharing an open space.
Accessibility
The main level offers step-free access to key living areas, two king bedrooms and one full bathroom with mobility features. The third king bedroom and sleeping loft are upstairs. Accessibility needs vary, so please review the listing photographs and contact our team before booking if you have specific questions.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome with advance registration. A maximum of two dogs is permitted, with a pet fee of $35 per dog, per night. Cats and other animals are not permitted.
Internet and Cell Service
The home has fast fiber internet with speeds of up to approximately 300 Mbps. Cell service can be limited in the Silver Lake and Mt. Baker areas depending on your carrier. As with any rural mountain destination, internet or power service can occasionally be affected by weather, storms or regional outages.
Fire Pit and Outdoor Living
Fire pit use is subject to local weather conditions and seasonal burn restrictions. Please never leave a fire unattended and fully extinguish it after use.
Mountain and Lake Living
This home is surrounded by nature, and wildlife is part of the experience. Guests may see birds, deer, beavers and other animals around the lake. Please keep food and garbage secured and never feed wildlife.
A pack-and-play and highchair are available upon request.

We had a great time while in town for our elopement with family. The house was perfect to come back to to hangout outside, rowboat, play games inside, ect.
we made a quick decision to getaway for the weekend and this listing was available and able to book and be in the next day. The house is very nice, the beds are comfy, and kitchen nicely supplied. Overall a great experience.
I would definitely rent this property again. The setting is goegeous--its right in the lake. The house is spacous and we'll laid out. We love to cook and really enjoyed the well--appointed kitchen. It was just the two of us for this trip, buy next time we might bring friends and family.
We had a wonderful family getaway! The house was incredible and just as described. If you’re looking for peace and quiet off the beaten path, this is the house for you. Fishing was great! We even saw several Bald Eagles. Close to the Canadian border if you’re interested in traveling to our neighbors in the north. You should visit Artist Point and Nooksack Falls if you have the time. Try the pizza at Chair 9 on your way back down. Overall we had a wonderful visit and are planning on going back. P.S. Sorry about the oar ring 😢

Beautiful, Clean, Private Getaway
This property is very well maintained with a gorgeous yard overlooking a lake. It was very comfortable and the kitchen was amazing to cook in, we hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner and it all worked out wonderfully. Waking up and seeing the morning fog over the lake was one of the most incredible moments at the cabin. I would highly recommend staying here! The only thing I would advise is that the Wi-Fi is very weak and only worked 1 of the 3 days we were there. This was not an issue for me except for the day of arrival as it was challenging to stay in contact with others arriving later, as well as some people in our group were students and had hoped to get some homework done during their stay. That aside, it is overall an amazing rental and we can't wait to go back! Tera (the owner) is very easy to communicate with and was nothing short of accommodating.

Renter BEWARE
One of the worst properties we've rented in the area.
The owner of the house is very difficult to work with, she doesn't care about your needs. We had no power and we were completely snowed in with trees down throughout the grounds and blocking the road. She did nothing for us aside from making sure she took our money.
You are better off renting elsewhere!

Amazing country beauty and close to wonderful activities
We spent a quick Christmas holiday at this lovely waterfront chalet near Mt. Baker. There was plenty of room for us to bring our 2 adult sons and our teen-aged daughter. The cooking facilities were phenomenal and our son cooked some truly gourmet meals for our extended family to join us and enjoy as well. The 12 seat table was perfect for our Christmas company.
The chalet was close to amazing "rain forest like" hikes and we loved the short trek to Mt. Baker to ski. I was delighted that our area was not snow bound but within a 20 minute drive we were in a white snow covered winter wonderland and the skiing was outstanding! We also took a trek into Vancouver discovering their aquarium and Stanley Park, a short drive away (bring your passport).
I would highly recommend this chalet. There is wifi and a land line though no cell reception. Bring a few DVD's though as they have a lovely TV/DVD set up but nothing to watch in the evening. There are cards and games for inside fun and an outdoor fire pit and hot tub. It's amazing what we were able to enjoy in a quick 5 night stay!!
Space and view was beautiful, the yard is great but only in the warm summer months or if it snows. Any other time, you will likely not enjoy it, fully.
Negatives:
Could not connect to the internet even though it is advertised there is internet. I would recommend hard wiring directly into your computer with the cord. Phone is impossible, so kiss internet goodbye.
Could not text the property management company. Phone would not work due to no service. So, even though it’s advertised you can text or call anytime for anything you need, it does not work! The text does not go through.
No wine glasses!? This was a huge negative, we had great bottles of wine to drink with no proper glasses. Not cool
The stove fan/vent did not work. The alarms went off in every room of the house when we cooked. To keep this from happening, we had to open all windows and doors when cooking which was awful because the little kids had to be patrolled in order to not wander outside unattended AND it was freezing while we cooked.
The space is echoey as it’s open. You will not get to sleep in if you have kids waking up early or people staying up late.
The 2nd floor bedroom has a wall cut out with a blind covering it. This is NOT good if you want peace and quiet. Also it gets very hot in that room due to this.
The upper floor gets very hot! You can manage this but if you want the fireplace on in the lower level, the upper will get very warm (too warm to have a good sleep). If you turn it off, you will lose that ambience
Rented this location for a weekend with some friends and family (8 adults). Overall it was a great weekend at the VRBO.
There were plenty of small bowls, but we had to buy our own medium size bowls for our meals since we had pho/ramen - the small bowls were too small, and there weren't enough larger bowls unless people were to eat from mixing bowls.
Pros:
- hosts were great throughout the check-in process and texted to make sure we had everything we needed. Answered all of our questions.
- Boat (extra fee) and life jackets available for use
- Had travel size Toiletries in the bathrooms and coffee/tea for the coffee maker
- Plenty of pots and pans, and kitchen gadgets (mixer, blender, coffee grinder and maker, slow cooker)
- Bath towels AND recreation towels for when you come back from the jacuzzi/lake
- Interactive monitor mounted near the entrance with info about the property and nearby stores, and check-out instructions
- The individual beds in the rec room are actually trundles (lower pull out mattress), so it could technically sleep 10 people. We didn't find this out until after we picked rooms, but this would be good for kids or a parent and child to sleep together.
- Lawn games were great!
- Lounge chairs for laying out in the sun
- Gravel area and picnic table
Could be improved/wish we had known:
- Everything was functional but some things definitely showed wear and tear
- The house is near the end of the southern tip of the lake. The nearby boat rental means the middle of the lake is busy during the day - we ended up fishing near the end of the lake where there are less people
- The lake had a lot of lily pads and plants but the water gets deeper and more clear once you get towards the middle of the lake where the boat rental is.
- The bank is a bit muddy so you start to sink into the mud/dirt. Avoid wearing flip flops because you'll get stuck, but there are lots of rocks and sticks/logs so you can't walk around in the water without shoes so we only used our floaties/rafts rather than swim.
- Lawn clippings were not bagged/hauled so clippings were tracked into the house and stuck to our rafts when we brought them up to dry.
The listing is highly accurate, and the place is truly beautiful. It made it hard to leave to go do the mountain activities we went there to do! Excellent beds, kitchen was well stocked, firepit was large, lawn games available, etc. One thing I'd say is that the hot tub was rather low on water upon our arrival. Though it got filled on our 2nd day, that made it slow to heat up, and we struggled in dealing with the control system on the tub, ultimately had to have a conversation with the hosts. I'd suggest including clear instructions for use of the hot tub controller. Would definitely stay again!
Beautiful home with view/access to lake and woodsy snowy surroundings (just as shown). Perfect for two small families. And a 40 min drive to the Mt Baker Ski Area. Nice to relax in the hot tub after a day at the mountain.
Walking into the Waterfront Lodge and seeing Silver Lake through the cathedral-like windows set the mood for our stay; magical. The lodge is purpose built to provide the best possible guest experience and Tera made every effort to ensure our comfort and convenience. We also rented their aluminum rowboat for beautiful lake cruises and fishing. We will definitely be back! Thanks.
Great place to stay. Home was clean and owners generous with towels and anything else you would need. Highly recommend staying at this home. The only drawback was no cell service. Needs to have a booster for the WIFI. We could get it at a relatives cabin at the opposite side of lake that has invested in it. But was nice to see kids and adults not on their cell phones. Owner was wonderful to work with me as we had many changes around dates with covid and flights cancelled, etc.
We stayed at this beautiful cabin for my boyfriend's 40th birthday and it was perfect! The cabin was beautiful and conveniently located near Mt.Baker resort. The owners were so thoughtful. They were concerned about the upcoming snow storm and offered to relocate our group from a more remote cabin to this cabin for safety. We appreciated this so much!
Everything about the place was excellent except the gas fireplace wasn’t working. It was cold in the mornings as that was the main rooms only source of heat. It was a wonderful home to spend time with the family. It’s decorated nicely & has everything you need.
