IN-HOUSE SWIMMING POOL, STEAM BATH AND FINNISH SAUNA:
The in-house, "subtropical" swimming pool with a pleasant water temperature of 28 degrees Celsius is the centerpiece of the complex and is available exclusively and completely free of charge to our guests. It boasts a considerable size of approximately 70 square meters and has recently been completely renovated, so you can look forward to a high-quality ambiance. In addition, our guests have the option of using the two "Sauna & Relaxation Areas" for a minimal fee of approximately 1-2 euros per use. Here you will find two different saunas (including a relaxation room, lockable lockers, changing rooms, and showers). This includes a classic Finnish sauna (with waterfall showers) where you can enhance your sauna session with aromatic infusions, and a sauna area with a spacious steam room. BEACH AND RELAXATION: In Duhnen, you'll find a beach as far as the eye can see – practically right on your doorstep. The miles of fine sandy beach, the Wadden Sea, and the North Sea are easily and quickly accessible from our vacation apartment on foot in about 5-7 minutes. Simply walk down one side street and you're there: right in the heart of Duhnen, with its numerous beach access points. At Duhnen's sandy beach, children and adults alike will find wonderful swimming fun in the clean, gently sloping water. Splashing, swimming, building sandcastles, diving, playing, surfing, sailing, taking long walks, or simply relaxing in the sand or in your own beach chair (already included!) – the choice is yours. There's also a special, separate activity beach and even a dedicated "stadium by the sea" with various beach sports fields and a regular entertainment and events program from May to September. Wadden Sea & Sea: Besides the long North Sea beach in Duhnen, the Wadden Sea – which, by the way, is part of the largest tidal flat system in the world – is the absolute highlight of the region. At low tide, you have the unique opportunity to walk on the seabed and make interesting discoveries. A trip to the tidal creeks is especially worthwhile, where you can take a relaxing dip in the often warm water. A walk in the mudflats is exceptionally healthy and stimulates the entire body. We highly recommend participating in one of the numerous guided mudflat tours. These range from tours for nature lovers and family excursions to "amber hunting in the mudflats." Almost year-round, you also have the opportunity to explore the Wadden Sea by horse-drawn carriage and mudflat wagon and take a trip across the seabed to the island of Neuwerk. YOUR HOLIDAY DESTINATION DUHNEN: In Duhnen, you can enjoy a relaxing beach or wellness holiday, an active sports holiday, or a fun-filled family vacation. There's something for everyone. Thanks to the attractive and central location of your holiday apartment, you'll find yourself in the heart of Duhnen – the North Sea resort – in just a few minutes' walk. Here you'll find everything a holidaymaker could wish for: a variety of bars, cafés, ice cream parlors, and restaurants (from traditional German fare and typical North German cuisine to international fare and luxurious fine dining), as well as numerous shops, boutiques, galleries, and souvenir shops await your discovery. The harbor and shipping have a long tradition in Cuxhaven/Duhnen and lend the town its distinctive character. Combined with the often luxurious Art Nouveau buildings, Duhnen is a high-quality and incredibly diverse holiday destination that has nevertheless managed to retain the charm of a bygone era. Also highly recommended is the well-known Ahoi adventure and seawater thermal spa (featuring a large sauna area, slides, a thalassotherapy and wellness center; various massages, beauty and wellness treatments are available) located directly in Duhnen. NEW: Climbing park, adventure golf course, and maritime museum. HARBOR AND FLAIR - TYPICALLY NORTH GERMAN: Cuxhaven is often called the 'Gateway to the Wide World'. After all, it boasts several important ports, such as the seaport, the America Port, and the fishing port. Tourists are constantly fascinated by the enormous container ships. A stroll to the fishing port is particularly impressive, offering a magnificent sight as the many crab and deep-sea fishing boats lie side by side in the harbor basin. Here you also have the opportunity to buy freshly caught fish and other seafood directly from the cutter! Cuxhaven also has a berth for luxury liners, from which various emigrant ships once departed for the "New World." Today, in addition to large container ships and the ferry to England, you can also admire enormous cruise ships like the Queen Mary II. Some of these "giant vessels" are en route to Hamburg, while others dock directly in Cuxhaven and embark from here on their journeys around the world. CULTURE, ENTERTAINMENT & SIGHTS IN THE REGION: There's always something going on in Duhnen. Various sports activities such as surfing, golf, horseback riding, water skiing, bowling, etc., ensure an exciting and active vacation. And in bad weather, numerous cultural events keep boredom at bay. Cuxhaven boasts over 3,500 (!) events annually, ranging from concerts with shanty choirs and sea songs to spectacular shows, theater performances, and concerts by numerous renowned artists. In summer, up to three spa concerts take place daily. Other highlights include the Wadden Sea Festival, the world-famous Duhnen mudflat races, and the summer evening by the sea. Also worth visiting are Fort Kugelbarke, the Windstärke 10 (Wind Force 10) adventure museum, the Aeronauticum, Ritzebüttel Castle, Bederkesa Castle, the Learning & Demonstration Shipyard, the museum ship, the Natureum, the zoo located directly in the spa gardens, and excursions to Heligoland (duty-free shopping), Bremerhaven, Bremen, Stade, and Hamburg. HEALTHY & REFRESHED: The climate on the North Sea coast in and around Duhnen is exceptionally healthy. The healthy, salty sea air is particularly beneficial for people with respiratory and skin problems, and the climate is also often soothing for muscle tension. Spending time on the beach or in the mudflats is therefore comparable to a large inhalatorium, where the many healing substances of the marine climate benefit all the body's organs. This promotes your recovery and strengthens your immune system. You will notice how the healthy climate significantly improves your personal well-being! Incidentally, the weather in Duhnen is almost always different (often better) than what the weather forecast on television predicts. Tides, wind, and climate, as well as the influence of the Gulf Stream, which brings oceanic warmth to the North Sea area off Cuxhaven, often cause rapid weather changes and leave little time for prolonged rain!
