Escape to the countryside with this unique combination of The Oak & The Log Cabin, two charming properties side by side that together sleep up to 10 guests, with 2 private wood-fired hot tubs.
Perfect for couples, families, friends or multi-generational stays, the two properties offer a mix of rustic charm, modern comfort and flexible sleeping arrangements in the heart of County Durham.
The Oak – Sleeps 4 The Oak is a spacious and stylish retreat featuring a comfortable bedroom, modern bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and welcoming living space with countryside views. Its private wood-fired hot tub makes it a wonderful choice for couples and small families.
The Log Cabin – Sleeps 6 The Log Cabin brings woodland character and something a little different, with two elevated king-size sleeping lofts and a huge sofa bed. It also has its own living area, cooking facilities and private wood-fired hot tub — ideal for families and groups who enjoy unique accommodation.
🛏️ Sleeping Arrangements
Across the two properties, The Oak & The Log Cabin sleep up to 10 guests, with a combination of a traditional bedroom, elevated sleeping lofts and sofa beds.
The Oak (Stone Farmhouse) – Sleeps 4 • Bedroom – En-suite: Double bed • Living room: Double sofa bed
The Log Cabin – Sleeps 6 • Elevated sleeping loft: King-size bed • Elevated sleeping loft: King-size bed • Open-plan lounge: Exceptionally large luxury sofa bed (3.2m x 2m), frequently described by guests as “sleeping on a cloud”
⚠️ Please note: The two king-size beds are in open, elevated sleeping lofts accessed by ladders, with restricted headroom due to the pitched roof. These quirky loft spaces are a fun and distinctive feature that many guests love, but may not suit guests with limited mobility or those who prefer conventional bedrooms. Photos, floor plans and 360° tours are available to view before booking.
🌿 Space to Relax
Guests can enjoy multiple living spaces, cooking facilities, outdoor seating areas, BBQ facilities and two private wood-fired hot tubs to relax in under the stars.
The setting is peaceful and private, with countryside views, yet only a short drive from Durham City, Bishop Auckland and many of the area's attractions.
Whether you’re here to explore, celebrate or simply unwind, The Oak & The Log Cabin provide a flexible and memorable base for your countryside getaway.
One change I made deliberately: I didn't say “fully equipped kitchens” in the plural because the Log Cabin doesn't have a conventional oven. Better to say “cooking facilities” when referring to both properties together so nobody can argue they expected two full kitchens.
