"Stayed for a festival out at Earlham Park. Did not have a vehicle, buses to from Norwich and the Uni are quite convenient. Walked most days. 1 mile to Earlham, 2 miles to Norwich. The location was perfect for our needs. Plenty of bedroom space, kitchen was clean and well appointed. "Check-in was perfunctory and lacking in warmth. My husband and I were also very disappointed to be told that the pool and spa closed at 7pm. After a long drive, we arrived at 6:45pm intending to relax in the spa before retiring. We understand that the spa was open until 8pm (on the pool board, it did say it closed at 8pm). 7pm is early for a spa to close and it doesn't open for an early morning swim either; we felt cheated. The hotel is on a cliff, so has lots of steps, which we had overlooked. At late notice a room without steps was kindly made available. The ensuite studio room was pleasant, comfortable and well equipped but sounds from the surrounding rooms could be heard. The room and equipment were mostly clean. A wooden spoon and PVC apron would be good additions. Ideally, we would prefer an 11am checkout, as 10am is a bit of a rush, especially with self-catering. Visually the spa lacked lustre but it was true to the photographs; a few plants would improve the general ambience and relaxation. The pool and jacuzzi were good, the sauna was rather small and steam room wasn't really steamy. The pool, sauna and steam room were clean but the poolside was a little dirty with leaves and debris in the seating area. We didn't use the restaurant, gym or games room but the communal herb pots and beach toys were a lovely touch. We enjoyed a few chives. Overall, if the price was right, I would be happy to return with the family, this time knowing the country clubs shortfalls."

"Hotel in lovely position and first impressions were excellent. We were greeted by reception and given the key to the "keepers" shepherds hut. This was in the grounds of the hotel and although small it was perfectly adequate for a couple of nights. Toiletries and towels provided as were tea and coffee making facilities. All very welcomed. The only downside were lack of full cutlery (only one fork provided) and the hotel advertise that a Dyson Hairdryer is provided in all rooms. Obviously not the case for the shepherds hut as we only had a cheap Babyliss one. We could also have done with a t-towel and cleaning bits to wash any cups/plates as no one checks or changes these during the stay. All in all though a pleasurable stay."

"This is a lovely old building with traditional carved wood decor and big leather sofas and chairs in the bar and lounge areas, I felt like I was in a Jane Austen story. Having said that the facilities are modern and top rate, the swimming pool was my favourite. Excellent breakfast choices, something for all tastes, huge comfy bed and proper seating in the room. Very conveniently sited for the park and ride into Norwich (less than a mile away), but rural enough to make a peaceful break."

"Generally very good, however there was a few disappointing things such as the bed wasn't particularly comfortable, the room was a bit small and tired, the black pudding at breakfast wasn't cooked properly (it was like rubber), also olive oil and balsamic should not be pre-mixed let people adjust the ratio to their taste. The staff were very good and the location is very good."
