The New Holmwood is a very tired hotel. Perhaps living on it's past glory days. Hardly any staff and those that were seldom about were not overly helpful.

The hotel itself is looking a bit tired but our room was spotless and clean. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The buffet breakfast was hot and tasty. The location is amazing. Fantastic place to stay if u don't want to spend loads of time in the hotel.

We recently stayed as a group at the Holmwood, and we all had a lovely stay! we found the beds to be very comfortable. Staff were fantastic, the hotel was very clean and they had provided extra fans to keep rooms cool and The rooms were spacious, however some of the bathrooms dated as well as corridors etc of the hotel. Breakfast was good. It was in a fantastic location on the sea front, with a terrace overlooking, yes there’s no bar, however town is a short walk away! If you wish to have a no frills comfortable stay, this is for you.

We reserved a hotel stay. Reservation was paid, but a few days following, we received a text message from the management informing us that this establishment currently runs as a bed & breakfast. This was absolutely not what we wanted. We promptly asked for a refund on the basis of inapropriate advertising. Refund was denied.

The hotel was referred by a friend who said the hotel was fabulous and the food fantastic. When we arrived we were told there was no food at all. Breakfast for £17.00 each so we didn’t agree to that. The room was good apart from the toilet which did not flush every time. The location is lovely.

Great location for walking to Cowes centre and for the chain ferry to East Cowes. Comfortable room although very hot and impossible to turn the one radiator (in bedroom) off. Decent breakfast although some of the cooked items could have been hotter. Overall I would recommend and be happy to stay again.

Bedding I was told after day two to do our room after no cleaners came . I was told they don’t change until later in my weeks stay . And also the manager came out to the lounge where I was working on my laptop and standing over me as she told and everyone else sitting there loudly that not to get make up on there bedding because they won’t wash those they will throw them away . I said interesting I stayed around the world and never had someone try to assert dominance over me in public over cleaning my room and me complaining it was not done

Overall very disappointing. Bedroom was ok but hardly a Seaview looking over rooftop, good hot water though and comfortable bed. I was aware it was only bed and breakfast but not told there would be nobody on ‘site’ after 5pm until a email arrived the day before. Could not access outside space after that time which would have been nice. Room only serviced on one morning, maybe I should of asked!

The room was very spacious with comfortable beds and a good shower and the area was quiet at night. The choice of breakfasts was excellent and the view from the restaurant was an added bonus.

The hotel is being rescued so it’s very basic. Bar and restaurant closed. Bit 1970s. Good luck to the new owners. They use minimum staff and cannot yet exploit the real potential. Eg hairdryer broke down immediately and no-one on desk. You get what you pay for which is fair, but minimal. It’s really look after yourself AB&B. Would I stay again. Yes if budget was the big issue. No if we wanted atmosphere and attention.
