Building itself and updated decor was very charming. The employees were helpful and gracious. Lodge rooms above the restaurant smell strongly of cooked steak etc all night long but was otherwise cozy and comfortable.

Great experience, friendly staff, the lodge is one of a kind, our room was located in the newer building near the lagoon which was equally beautiful serene. The onsite resturant is fantastic. Amazing food with friendly staff who provided prompt and excellent service. Our server was knowledgeable with the menu and gave us some great local options to explore.

Great customer service from the staff. Super cute little gem and pet friendly! We were able to bring our dog and enjoyed the stay. Walls are thin and you can hear upstairs walking but isn’t much of an issue for us, there weren’t much noise overall.

We have been enjoying Captain Whidbey since we spent our wedding night there in 1974. And now we are Whidbeyites for the past 51 years. I love the history, the staff and of course the location. And all our memories from the past half-century! I do think for the price of the Lagoon Rooms that bathrobes should be included -- and sorry there is no breakfast available, except to go at the store. Of course we miss the original bar, which was a classic -- but over the years, with new owners, things do change. But the 'Captain' will always be a part of why we love living on Whidbey.

The Captain Whidbey is such a special place to stay on Whidbey Island. It’s a charming historic property surrounded by beautiful scenery. We stayed in a king lagoon room which had a beautiful view. The only negative is the mattress was incredibly hard and uncomfortable. But the property as a whole was lovely and don’t miss out on the restaurant. We had dinner & brunch there, both of which were fantastic.

Sand on top of both beds. I think they need to wash the green plaid blankets that are at the end of the beds as I think that’s where the sand is coming from. Other than the sand in our beds, the resort is charming.
