We started our tour of Italy by spending a full day / night in beautiful Cortona. The drive up from from Rome was easy and straight forward. After leaving the main highways, you end up in the small countryside villages that surround the old walled city of Cortona. Then you begin your windy drive up to the walled city. Parking for the unit is included, but be mindful that space is shared and is at a premium. If you are lucky you can locate a spot less than 100 meters/yards from the unit, but we ended up needing to park down by the adjoining church which is located a short but very steep drive down a hill.
Once the car is parked, you will enter Cortona via the original stone gate on pavers that are hundreds of years old. Rosanna will guide you past some initial stores and show you a fantastic little restaurant for lunch & dinner which is just around the corner from her apartment.
The apartment is the perfect combination of old world charm with modern convivence. The entry door is a great example - at least 100 years old, but secured with a massive lock; there is wifi for your gadgets too!. The photos are 100% spot on.
The bedrooms are spacious, quiet and the beds are extremely comfortable. The bath and shower is compact (as is every bath shower in Italy!) but serves the purpose as expected.
And the location could not have been any better. It is so close to everything you want to see and do in Cortona yet is still right near the entryway into the city.
