"We had a nice stay while doing the Borders Abbeys Way, beds were comfortable, staff were very friendly. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of options and we also had dinner in the restaurant. The bar was a meeting place for locals which gave it a nice community atmosphere."

"Ideal location- lots of eating places within 300 yards. Good clean room, good breakfasts and very helpful host. Finding a parking space on the street could be tricky."
"Really good value for the money. Although near a main road, the hotel is set well back and our bedroom was at the back of the building and very quiet.
Excellent dinner and breakfast."

"Great location and nice pub. Parking on site is very limited but there is a large public car park very close. Staff were fine. One or two smiled and were friendly but the rest seemed quite miserable although they did the job effectively. Cleaning staff in the accommodation were lovely. Food was functional but after the first night didn’t bother eating there again. Downside was our room. It had a lovely view but was in the rafters and getting in and out of bed was treacherous as you’d either bang your head or back due to the tight space and room slope. Just as well a fan was provided as it was a very stuffy and quite uncomfortable space."
"Really disappointing stay. The room was unbearably hot from the moment we arrived, and despite using the fan provided and having the window open, so much so somebody could probably climb through, it made little to no difference. To make matters worse, the radiator in the bathroom appeared to be on full blast the entire time, with no obvious switch or way to turn it off.
The heat made it incredibly uncomfortable and resulted in a very poor night’s sleep. We raised the issue with staff during our stay, but unfortunately nothing was done to resolve it beyond an apology and them saying “we did provide you with a fan”.
Given the impact this had on our stay, it was disappointing that no compensation or meaningful attempt to improve the situation was offered. Just a mere “sorry”.
On a positive note, the room was presented well, clean and had good amenities. Pub was also nice, ample parking too.
However overall, the customer experience was poor and not what we expected. I stayed for my birthday and had to retreat home early the next day due to the lack of sleep so plans were unfortunately ruined."
"A fantastic location and great staff, unfortunately the property needs an overhaul, tired and under maintained rooms and bathrooms made it an uncomfortable stay.
The property felt like it just fell in from the 1960’s, including the internet, I spent 2 nights there for business, however, I couldn’t hence hold video conference calls as the WiFi was at best non-existent…!"
