I have never since 2013 renting Home Away/VRBOs left a bad review. Well here it is. Upon initiating dialog with the owner, I had a couple of questions. I received automatic generated response. I responded that my questions were not answered. Received another automatic generated response. Being that we were headed there the next day... I called the number listed for owner multiple times and got busy signal. I had to call VRBO to express my concerns that I received NO check-in instructions. VRBO reached owner. He called and left me a message advising me to call 10 min before arrival and someone would be there to meet us and explain check-in. We called upon arrival and were told the unit was unlocked and to just go in. Ok... took a SHORT nap. Was awoken by my husband advising there was a group of people outside waiting for our condo. What?? We could stay or move or get a refund. Mind you we had already settled in. Everything in fridge put away....This was a large group of friends and/or family awaiting our condo. It was not their fault the owner double booked the condo. We did not want to split this family up....so we chose to move to another condo. I was literally called a liar, when I told him the phone # was busy. Then he said I didn't follow check-in procedure. I never got any! Worst experience and communication I have ever dealt with. So the other condo we transferred to, the fridge smelled like rotten dead fish. I could still go on but this should be sufficient. Do not recommend. He will probably call me belligerent but from the initial communication (there was none) this is completely unacceptable. I will same Jim, I don't know his job title, was great. He was a gem. So kudos to him.
