Conchi Natural Pool

Conchi Natural Pool featuring general coastal views as well as a small group of people
Hike to this remote and rugged natural pool, where wild ocean waves crash into the volcanic rocks.

Set on a secluded and difficult-to-access stretch of coastline, the Conchi Natural Pool is one of Aruba’s most picturesque natural sites. Embark on a four-wheel drive tour to reach this deserted and empty pocket of the island where the awe-inspiring power and beauty of nature is at its most evident.

The natural pool is formed by a border of craggy rock, which cuts off the pool from the surrounding ocean. The pool may be calm and still or waves may crash in over the rocks depending on the conditions during your visit.

Enlist the services of a local guide to help you find the pool as the isolated setting, rocky terrain and off-road trails can make it difficult to access. During a tour, you’ll be driven close in a four-wheel drive or an all-terrain vehicle, before disembarking and trekking down a steep and uneven path on foot. Horseback tours are also offered by some operators.

Although the journey there is quite treacherous, the stunning pool is worth the effort. Bring along your bathing suit if the waters are calm, you may be able to enter the pool and even go snorkeling. Be sure to use water shoes though as the rocks are notoriously slippery. Swim out to the far edge of the pool and peer over the rocky edges to see the ocean beyond and look for tropical fish swimming in the water below.

When the wind is stronger and conditions rougher, you can safely observe the enormous waves crashing in over the rocks from the pool’s edge. Photography enthusiasts will want to bring along a camera to try and capture the gorgeous scene. Because of its isolated setting, the pool is rarely busy, so you can enjoy the experience at your leisure.

Conchi Natural Pool is located on the northeast tip of Arikok National Park. It is best visited as part of a guided tour. Ask your hotel to help you arrange one or check with tour operators online or in town.

Absolutely requires 4WD to get there and sometimes there are big groups on ATVs and sometimes you'll have the place to yourself. You will need to go through Arikok National Park and pay the entrance fee to get to the pool. Bring your snorkel mask to see the fish.

Pool was closed because of rough seas which apparently is fairly often. Also there is a per person fee to enter the park that accesses the natural pool by 4x4 or by foot

The drive to the natural pool is about 1.5hr and only on a 4x4 vehicle. This is a small pool for swimming. The path to get to the pool was very slippery and hard to get to. We spend about 3.5hr visiting this attraction which we though was not worth it. We could have seen other things in that time.
