**High Chair can be requested as well and rented as noted for $30 for stay. This is not at the unit so will need to give us 24 hour heads up**

  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

I am shocked at how dirty the house was. No one wanted to take off their shoes. I had to wash the shower mat so we could step on it. This house needs a deep clean, some new rugs, a paint job, and, at the VERY LEAST, no dirt on the floor and no food on the pool table when we walk in for the very first time. There weren't enough dishes or coffee mugs, and we also didn't think there was any silverware, but we found it in the dishwasher.

My group recently stayed here at this property for a nursing convention. After we booked the property, we were informed that we would receive the welcome guide the evening before/morning of. Unfortunately, I had to message the host for the guide. The welcome guide was very helpful and allowed us easy entrance into our stay. We needed to check-in early due to our conference and were charged an additional fee due to check-in not being til 4 pm on the first day of our booking. When we first arrived, we walked in and looked around at the place. The place was mostly clean besides some parts (stairs, pool table, and kitchen counters) being dusty/looked as if there was a cat previously in the property. We had troubles with some lights not working on the first day and same with the hot tub/jacuzzi. We messaged the host and they were very quick to respond. They were attentive and had someone out to fix things the same day. The maintenance individual, Ernesto, was very professional, friendly, and attentive. He treated us with much respect and answered all of our questions. If you stay here, I would request for him to be the individual to come out because he is efficient and treats others with kindness and mutual respect without treating us like we were unknowledgeable about the problems in the rental. This place was very close to many different things in Columbus, Ohio and would recommend this place to others. We would stay here again, but be weary of the steep stairs.

The property is in an *excellent* location. Parking was a plus! I was surprised the home had much more faux ivy than pictured, and a large life sized fake tiger in the pool table room, also not pictured, but the kids loved it and enjoyed the pool table! While we were not able to use the hot tub (as we stayed when the weather was extremely hot) it was clean and looked inviting! Unfortunately, the summer heat made the upstairs room over the living room too hot to sleep in, so the person who was going to sleep there slept on the sofa cushions downstairs. We made it work and as this was a very unusual heat wave, I certainly would not let this stop me from booking again, but be advised if considering a summer booking. The shower was nice and the kitchen serviceable. Loved that we had a fenced back yard for privacy and a place to allow us to bring our dog. Overall, a fun home for a night or two, and would be great in non-scorching weather! Football season would be a blast!
