Waltons Mountain Cottage - HOT TUB
The Waltons Mountain cottage with hot tub is a hillside hideaway located in the foothills of the mighty Pikes Peak mountain. Sitting on almost 100 acres of private land, the cottage provides seclusion and privacy with easy access to Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs.
Fully furnished 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage. Full kitchen, outdoor hot tub, incredible mountain views, Wi-Fi, and TV!
Great for small families, romantic get aways, or just a relaxing weekend trip.
The Cottage is the front door neighbor to our Waltons Mountain Lodge. Consider booking both properties for your family vacation if you have a larger group. If your party rents both the Cottage and the Lodge, do not remove anything from the Cottage and take it to the Lodge. These are two separate properties, help us keep each well stocked for the next guests.
The Cottage has two queen bedrooms and sleeps 4 (max 5 with a twin blow up mattress and additional fee of $10 per night). Complete kitchen with stove, refrigerator, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and Keurig, dishes, pans and silverware. The living area is open plan. Laundry machine and dryer available in the cottage.
There is NO central air. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms and the living area. Baseboard heaters in each room controlled via the one thermostat near the bookshelves. Do not rest anything on or near the baseboard heaters. Pac'n'play provided upon request. Limited availability, not guaranteed. NO SHEET PROVIDED.
The cottage is about a 30 minute walk to the famous downtown Manitou Springs, where shopping and dining are a must. The walk back is about a 30 minute hike back up the mountain, so plan accordingly. If you will be shopping and aren’t up for a good hike both ways, you may want to drive to town. Plenty of acreage to explore from the thousands of hiking trails to the old Midland railroad train tunnels. Manitou Springs is minutes away for world-famous sights such as the cog railway, the Manitou Incline, Cave of The Winds, and shopping, restaurants, and arcade that make downtown Manitou Springs famous.
You have access to the entire cottage, the side patio with your private hot tub, the front patio with 4 chairs, a table and a gas grill. You can park directly in front of the cottage in your labeled spot or on the concrete slab, directly in front of the Cottage. The dumpster for Lodge and Cottage guests is located across the dirt road. DO NOT FORGET TO REPLACE THE BAR LOCK AND PIN/SCREW or the bear will come and trash will be everywhere.
In addition to the Lodge and Cottage, there are three other homes on the mountain. The green house, located slightly northwest of the Lodge and Cottage (up the road) has long term renters. Please be respectful of their privacy. Please be respectful of the other guests that may be staying at the Lodge behind you. The Lodge sleeps up to 22 so it could be a large party. Let me know if you have any issues.
*Our pet fee is a one-time fee per pet. Although service animals are free, I still need to know if you have an animal at the house with you. Please see VRBO’s rules regarding service animals. An emotional support animal is not considered a service animal and the pet fee is required.*
Be advised that Waltons Mountain is adjacent to rugged national forest. Wild animals frequent the area, including bears, mountain lions, and bobcats. PLEASE BE BEAR AWARE and know what to do if you come across a bear (or mountain lion!) while hiking on our property. Stay in groups and do not let children run around without adult supervision and if applicable, keep pets on a leash at all times for their safety. Please ALWAYS lock up the dumpster with both the bar lock and the pin/screw as this helps us keep the bears out of the dumpster. Do NOT leave food or trash outside and do NOT overfill the dumpster. Please contact Caitlin with any issues.
You may see zip liners behind the Lodge, other cars belonging to the three other houses on the mountain and some trucks that use the city water road that is on our land.
Please drive slowly and carefully through the narrow streets in the neighborhood up the mountain road.
There are times when the hot tub has an issue after someone's stay, we do our best to remedy the issue as quickly as possible but there are times we have to wait for a part to arrive and install it. Unfortunately, these problems arrive randomly and are out of our control. Refunds will not be issued if these very rare issues happen before or during your stay and affect your use of the hot tub. If you let us know of any issues the moment they happen rather than wait until you check out or not inform us at all, we can get a head start to resolve the issue and we really appreciate that.

We had a lovely stay with our family at The Cottage. Location was really convenient for our planned activities and the instructions were clear and accurate.
We definitely enjoyed our stay. It was clean and we got to relax in the hot tub right after it snowed and watch the magpies. The location is excellent and we got to hike a little before storms moved in. It was so close to everything fun to do which is convenient. Will absolutely stay again.
This is the second time here and the accommodations didn’t disappoint. We love being up in the mountains and checking out all the trails. The cottage had everything that we needed and more. We would definitely stay here again.
A great escape from the bustle of cities, clean, every thing you would need to have a relaxing time. hot tub was very soothing. Great views would recommend that you stay at the little cottage at the almost top of the mountain
We truly enjoyed our time on Walton's Mountain. The Cottage had everything we needed for our stay. The relaxing hot tub was a hit after hiking the trails, ziplining and taking in the beautiful views. It is just minutes away from downtown Manitou Springs for shopping, dining and entertainment. We also enjoyed the Cave Dwellings, Cave of the Winds and the Garden of the Gods. John, thank you for your quick responses and providing all the necessities!
My husband, son, and I spent a week at the cottage and enjoyed our getaway. It’s cozy and well-appointed, and the views and fresh air are outstanding. The cottage is higher up in the mountains than I thought, but it was beautiful up there and very quiet. It’s close to attractions but away from the noise and crowds. It’s a great place to stay in the Manitou/Colorado Springs area.

The property was perfect. Lots of places to take walks in nature. Hot tub was clean and enjoyable. Bathroom is large with lots of fluffy towels. Doesn't have central air, but the unit they have cools the whole house quickly. Kitchen is well stocked, and the grill was an updated model.
This is a wonderful place to stay that is cozy & quaint just up the hill from Manitou Springs downtown! The cottage had everything we needed & the communication with the owner & her family was exceptional! Loved having the hot tub just beside the cottage, which was an added bonus, as well as being able to park right outside the front door! Manitou Springs is a cute little town this is located on some very steep roads and some of them are narrow but we didn’t ever have any problems with running into another car coming to or from the cottage because it’s located on private property & a private driveway. I would definitely use Serpentine Drive to get to the cottage though if you want to avoid downtown traffic. My family consists of my husband & I and 2 teenage children and we all loved it! Would definitely stay there again & would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area but without the hustle & bustle of downtown! (The picture is looking down at Manitou Springs at night from the cottage road!)
Everything was good, we arrive early in the morning because we were road trip to Colorado from Texas and was ask about early check in. The host was cool with early check in and we were able to unload the packages and take some rest. I don’t know this is because we get early, but the bed sheets weren’t cleaned, there was a dog hair on the bed and dusts on table and dishes and hot tub we could not use the hot tub because it wasn’t cleaned. However other thing were great grill, location, communication etc. you should visit here when you go to Colorado
It was located in a great area with access to everything I wanted to see. The hot tub was a nice addition very relaxing. The air conditioning situation was subpar with only a single portable AC unit for the entire house. I stayed in August, which I’m sure is the hottest time of year, so maybe it would only be an issue for a matter of weeks in the summer. I was on the motorcycle so the road leading into the house is a little sketchy. other than that, it was a great stay
This was a quiet, little cottage away from the business and traffic of the downtown shopping area. My only concern was the house past us a little further down had a not so friendly brown/black dog that would come running up to you and growl. With having a 16 month old who was loving having a big open place to play and run, (I have two dogs at home and she loves “puppy”), I was a little nervous this dog would come do something. Other than that, beautiful little get away with my dad and daughter! John, thank you for being so kind and informative prior to our arrival!

Could be an excellent experience
Location and information on how to find stay was excellent. We were excited when we approached the home but then...front door sliding screen fell off. It has not been maintain for some time. Then we discovered a safety wood fence rotted away and lying on the patio next to a very steep slope. We felt that we could not even use the patio area since it was not clean or safe.
Also, the TV remotes do not match the instruction book and it was almost impossible to use the two remotes to find any reception. We were disappointed with much of our experience because of these issues. However, loved Manitou Springs and the surrounding area.

Very clean and well stocked. This is our 2nd time visiting Waltons Cottage. Its the perfect cozy little rental. The hot tub never disappoints and the location is perfect.
We enjoyed the cabin very much. It was the perfect size for 4 adults. The cabin was well stocked and very clean. The area was quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle.
Even though we were a little surprised by the mountain road to get to the cottage, it was a great spot. We really liked the closeness to Manitou Incline and the cottage had all of the amenities we needed for our stay. Easy access to the Springs, but at the same time you felt like you were in a remote spot. We had a wonderful stay.
