I loved the 4 days I stayed at Caliu. The owners are lovely and I enjoyed the ecological build of the rooms that gave me many ideas for my own renovation for the ancient house I purchased in Italy half a year ago. I love the natural cooling system which makes A/C obsolete, the attached greenhouse with tropical plants that are watered with recycled water from the shower, the hotel owned organic garden which supplies their cute restaurant and how quiet it is there. If there is one thing I would improve, it would be to somehow attach the towel drying ladder next to the bathroom sink to either the wall or the surface it is standing on. I kept tipping it over when I used the hand towel and my heart stopped every time thinking PLEASE NO when it crashed on the sink. Nothing broke, thank goodness but somebody stronger than myself might jank it harder and then... Just my two cents. I am actually contemplating coming back and spending a couple of weeks for undisturbed writing surrounded by nature!

This place was the highlight of our stay in Uruguay and Argentina. The family that run the lodge are incredibly warm and welcoming. The focus on renewable building materials and food are incredibly interesting and impressive. The gardens and food are wonderful. We will be back without a doubt!
