Perfection

What a wonderful place! Beautiful building, romantic atmosohere, and so much history. We had a hottub in our room and a romantic balcony where we could watch the stars. This place is so classy and elegant! The owners are beyond hospitable and gracious. Very nice people. Will definitely be back!

Amazing experience with wonderful hosts

Our experience started the night before with Jim calling and asking our breakfast drinking, coffee or tea. The next morning the coffee and tea were ready and waiting for us. Jim gave us a tour of the Mansion. T>he rooms, including the bathroom were spotless and jet powered tub, provided an excellent way to end the evening in a relaxed mood. Jim suggests several restaurants, we went to one of several restaurants he recommended and Jim and Sandy arrived later to the same restaurant. The downtown area has many antique shops and we made a few purchases. Also you many want to stop at Fast Eddie's, an iconic pub that's been here over 40 year's. The prices for the food at 60's prices is a bargain. You must by at least one beverage. This was a terrific way to spend a relaxing weekend. We plan to return in the Fall.

Lovely Bed and Breakfast

The owners were unbelievable! They did everything to make our stay special. The house is lovely, the rooms have everything you need, the neighborhood is safe, and the continental breakfast was very nice. We truly enjoyed our stay. It took us back in time.

An Alton, IL Gem!

My girlfriend and I wanted a girls night out. We wanted to visit some local attractions in Alton Illinois. This place was convenient which was the original reason we chose the place. But I was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness and professionalism of the owners and staff. I rarely sleep well the first night when I stay away from home. I slept like a baby and woke up feeling refreshed. This was a win win!

A romantic getaway in an historic setting

The Beall House Mansion brims with artifacts from its elegant past. This Bed&Breakfast also has many comfortable, modern amenities for a romantic get-away. Situated in a quiet neighborhood of historic homes, it's still less than a mile from the rejuvenated and lively downtown. The hosts are very accommodating but never obtrusive.

Lovely Historic B&B

This was my first stay at the historic Beall Mansion, but it won’t be the last. The staff was very gracious, courteous and knowledgeable. The neighborhood was quiet and full of similar styled homes. One must remember this is an older historic mansion-the wooden floors and stairs will creak a little when walked on. I fully expected this, and for me, that only added to the charm of this beautifully furnished mansion and made me feel “at home”.

Really enjoyed our stay. The mansion is beautiful, clean. We took several pictures of ourselves in front of the fireplace, and Tiffany lamp. Was very nice to be given keys so that we could come & go as we please. They had Diet Coke in the frig, Thank You. I visited the chocolate bar several times. We ended up having a funeral to go to the next day, so had to get up early & leave before breakfast. They were kind to get up earlier to make us coffee, so we could have that with our bagel.

Special place

This is a very special place. It would be perfect for a honeymoon or romantic weekend. The home is beyond lovely and has a very interesting history, which the owner is happy to share. As we were in town on business and had to rush off in the mornings we didn’t get to partake in the breakfasts but we did make a point to enjoy the candy buffet! The neighborhood is full of beautiful historic homes but is not an easy walk to restaurants and shopping.

Amazing bed & breakfast in Alton, close to downtown but on a quiet street surrounded with historic homes. Beautiful garden, enchanting house and most comfy bed ever. 24 hr Chocolate bar was great, also complimentary brandy also although I didn't partake :),

Great place to stay in Alton!

This is about the 10th time I have stayed at Beall Mansion. This place is consistently excellent. The kind of experience you can have is very flexible depending on your needs. I prefer to sort of be left alone and just grab a quick snack in the morning and I don't really need anything. If you like, you can have a full breakfast made for you every morning and book massages etc. The owners are so nice. The beds and pillows are always very comfortable and seem like good quality. My favorite is the Senator Beall room which has a king bed with fireplace, sitting area. It is a huge room with enormous victorian windows and the bathroom is huge as well and has a jacuzzi tub. This is by far the best place to stay in Alton. It is worth the extra money if you are someone who would like more peace and quiet and a higher end type of accommodation. The house itself is what you would always hope in a bed and breakfast. It is a historic Victorian mansion with all of the period details you would hope for. They have decorated it very Victorian throughout and it has very high ceilings and lots of rooms downstairs and areas on the property to hang out if you would like to. The guest rooms are very private. It is on a large lot with lots of vegetation. I love the neighborhood too which is full of many more huge gorgeous Victorians. I enjoy running and walking around the neighborhood when I go in the warm months. It is also close to downtown which you could walk to if you wanted.

1901 MANSION BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED; NOW GREAT B+B

The Beall Mansion is absolutely wonderful. The woodwork, hand-woven Persian rugs, sculptures, ceramics, etc. etc. surround the guest with both luxury and comfort. The hosts are wonderfully hospitable, relaxed and friendly. One truly feels at home. Extremely highly recommended to anyone visiting the St. Louis area and definitely more than worth the trouble of staying in Alton, Ill. if you're visiting St. Louis. For those staying in Alton anyway, you'd be crazy to stay anywhere else. My highest possible recommendation and congratulations to Jim and Sandy and their wonderful staff.

Awesome weekend getaway

The mansion has lots of history and is explained by the owner when you check in. 24 hr Chocolate bar is a nice touch, as is the complimentary beverages. Great location, close to shops and restaurants. Staff truly enjoy what they do, and it shows in the attention to detail. While it is an Mansion built in 1904, it has been updated with Central Air, and modern bathroom facilities. Will definitely be going back.

comfortable bed and breakfast

When we got there a couple had just gotten married. Seeing the groom and bride turned out to be someone that went to school and hung out with two of our children. It is a small world. Hadn't seen him in years. I thought the bed and breakfast was a great place for an event like that. The grounds and home were very pretty. Sandy and the staff just made you feel so comfortable. It was just so quiet and relaxing.

A great place for a romantic getaway!

This is an exceptional bed and breakfast offering a wide range of additional services that make it a romantic getaway you will not soon forget and will want to return to often. Jim and Sandy are wonderful people and they are very knowledgeable about the history of their house and the Alton area that made our time there more enjoyable! I highly recommend staying there and know you will not be disappointed.
