About this property

2 Bed in Coleford (oc-56076)

  • The quaint and bustling community village of Staunton has an enviable position making it an excellent base for exploring the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Welsh Borders. Nestled in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by countryside with many well marked footpaths to guide you through the stunning scenery, including the Meend circular route with Moorland ponies and views across the Brecons. For the more adventurous among us there is rock climbing and canoeing at Symonds Yat which is walkable through the historic woodland with a lunch at the Saracens Head, Go Ape at Mallards Park and ample mountain biking routes around the Forest of Dean and the Black Mountains across the Welsh border. It is a location that is great all year round with a vibrant events calendar to include the Hay on Wye Literary Festival, Abergavenny Food Festival and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival to name but a few. Also within an hours drive are the bustling cities of Bristol and the Historic Spa town of Bath, with lots to see and do including the SS Great Britain and the famous Bath Spas, as well as easy access to both Chepstow and Cheltenham racecourse and the heart of The Cotswolds.

Your journey starts at the garden gate of this picturesque Grade II listed attached cottage that was featured in a national homes magazine. A simple porch covers the pale green door, and as you step inside you will be welcomed by the both classic and timeless interior of the kitchen/diner. Simply brimming with character and original features to include the exposed beams and fire place with a mantle hosting a colourful selection of jugs. The dining area with a traditional table and school room chairs enhanced by the simple arm chair and farm house dresser, the original windows offer views onto the front gardens and when the evening draws in you can simply close the original wooden shutters. The kitchen boasts the same traditional style though well–equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. And when dinner is done step down into the lounge for a cosy evening with family or friends, light the wood burner and enjoy a movie on the smart TV/DVD with BT Youview box, or for summer evenings simply open the French doors onto a private courtyard. When it’s time for bed, climb the stairs where you will find a room fit for a king with an ornate four poster bedroom. There is also a bathroom with claw foot bath and WC on this floor. Heading up some steep carpeted stairs with a fixed handrail to the second floor there is a double bedroom with additional day bed with stunning views onto the valley with en-suite shower room and WC.

This stunning cottage has two enclosed cottage gardens, you can enjoy the sun throughout the day with a garden with seating accessed off the lounge, and a further simple garden is accessed via the dining area with seating. There is off-road parking for two cars.
