This stay is in a very comfortable bungalow just a few blocks north of Lake Street/Oak Park. It is easy to get anywhere in Oak Park from this location. We would stay here again.
Jay, the owner met us when we arrived. We really appreciated having coffee, tea, and creamer available. Accurate description of the property. Driveway for parking. Quiet neighborhood
Jay was a perfect host, house location was great, house was clean, neighborhood quiet. Jay supplied us with coffee, which we were not expecting - thanks Jay, that was a bonus. :). If and when I come back to Chicago I know where I will be staying. Thanks again Jay.
Best,
Maddie
Pleasant Stay, Gracious Welcome, Needs Anticipated
This was an immaculate older home in a very nice - and safe - part of Chicagoland. Convenient to Concordia University and not far from the restaurant/business district of Oak Park. The host welcomes you upon your arrival and provides and excellent, thorough survey of the property and answers any questions you may have. Unlike some VRBOs, there was no shortage of household items - practically every need is anticipated.
I plan on staying here again in the future when on business in the area.
We had a small group of friends stay at Jay's property for our Homecoming weekend at Concordia University Chicago. It could not have been a more exceptional experience for us all. Jay left no stone unturned when it came to our accommodations! The smooth check-in and check-out process, games and entertainment center, and attention to detail helped make it a very memorable weekend. The personal touches within the home like the guest book and optional brunch service gave a next-level customer service unlike any other property I've stayed at previously. Jay has a gift for hosting, and we will definitely be looking to stay at his home in the future!
We loved this property and its location, right across the street from a beautiful park. In summer, the splash pad operates, and this was a blessing during such a hot week. The kitchen and bathroom were spotless, which is so important to us, and there was ample space. Our rating on cleanliness is not about cleanliness per se. It rather was about so many scented options for soaps, etc. My husband has allergies, including to scented items, so at first he had to get accustomed to that. We enjoy Oak Park so much, and Mr, Jay made us feel welcomed and valued. He was available for the couple of questions we made by phone, one during his work day. While we wanted to avoid interrupting his work, our question had some urgency. He answered immediately and kindly. Thank you, Jay, for everything.
Jay was very thorough with his tour of the home. The home had more than enough amenities, the beds were very comfortable and the internet and television channels were amazing! Would definitely stay here again!
We picked Jay's house because it's located right in the middle of Oak Park where many of Frank Lloyd Wright's works are located, we had so much fun walking the beautiful neighborhood. Jay's property is great too!
Jay was communicative and very welcoming. He also puts a lot of thought and detail into the home. He has many things that you might need for your visit. Overall I’d highly recommend this property to anyone staying in the area
This home away from home was perfect for my visit with my grandson, who is studying at Dominican University down the street. This house was a great home base after all of our activities. Sunday brunch was a gourmet meal!
I can't recommend Jay's place highly enough. It's outside of the insanity of downtown Chicago, but you can get to it super easily so you're really getting the best of both worlds. The house is nice and quiet and Jay couldn't have been more accommodating. I would easily stay there again since it had everything we needed for a six day stay in Chicago.
Our stay at this property was amazing! The location was very convenient and close to public transportation. Jay, our host, was great and was accommodating. We wanted to make dinner, so Jay made sure the kitchen was ready fir our use. He also showed us around the house and was very welcoming.
Our stay was wonderful and anything we would need was provided… the house was clean and in a great area… we were able to walk to all the shops and eateries we wanted to visit in Oak Park… there was a cute little park directly across the street from the house …. The beds were comfortable and the quiet neighborhood allowed for great sleep.. Jay was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed!.. would definitely stay again
We had a wonderful stay in this VRBO property. The beds were very comfortable. The home was well appointed. We had everything we needed. The only problem was that the washer and dryer were not on site and were expensive to use. This was not clear to us in the VRBO description. Otherwise this is a great place to stay.
Convenient to everything! Walking distance to the Frank Lloyd Wright Studio & Museum. A softball field accross the street. Quiet, but not without pleasant activity. Jay's place has every convenience anyone would need. Safe parking in the private driveway. Oh, do I really need to mention how clean everything is there? Ok then, everything is clean, dust free and inviting.

My friend and I met to just hang out in the Chicago area. This immaculately clean home was in a perfect setting.
The owner; Jay was delightful, very welcoming and loved that he showed us the entire place and how everything 'worked'.
Loved chatting with him, very knowledgeable about the area and his place had everything you could possibly need( just in case, you forgot something).A bonus was the fresh flowers in the bedroom. Such a quaint touch.
Close to public transit, and walking distance to the Frank Lloyd Wright neighborhood, houses, and the museum.
Would definitely stay here again. We loved it.
The front sunroom was perfect for the 2 of us to do our morning yoga/ exercises.
Thanks so much Jay for sharing this beautiful home.
Jay Johnson is the owner of this wonderful bungalow. A dear friend and I traveled from California to Chicago to speak at our old high school. I was tasked with getting a VRBO place within walking distance of the school. I typed in the parameters and eventually found Jay’s house. However, I did not read the very clear description closely. Instead of being less than a mile from the school, it was 12 miles away in Oak Park Illinois. Ironically, the house and the school are both on the same Division Street, just separated by 12 miles. I was dismayed by my mistake. However, it turned out to be a wonderful mistake. The house is 20’-30’ from O’Hare depending on traffic and 30’ from downtown Chicago. We used Uber every day to travel to and from downtown. It turned out to be cheaper and more practical than renting a car. For example, we never had the hassle of trying to find parking and our Uber driver always dropped us off at the precise location we wanted. Moreover, parking in the city can be expensive and not always easy to find. (My friend and I are both native Chicagoans.) Additional thoughts: First, Jay is a wonderful host. He met us at the house, walked us through It, and carefully explained how everything operated. He told us where we could find Wholefoods and various eateries in this charming village. Second, Jay could not have been a more forward-looking host. He has meticulously thought out what guests need and has provided those things. I highly recommend this house.
Jay was an excellent host, meeting me at the door and giving me a tour. His attention to detail in the property is excellent. Communication and all else was great as well.
