We had an absolutely wonderful stay! Dave and Miken were warm and gracious hosts. The accommodations were warm and comfortable. And the goats were hands down the best part of the whole experience! We would come back in a heartbeat.
This was a very cozy room, could sleep 4 adults or 2 adults and three kids. Kitchen is good for simple meals, tv and wifi were great and easy to use. It was nice to be able to soak in the tun after our hikes in the area. The hosts were generous with their time and happy to share their knowledge about goats and let us pet, feed, and even milk the goats!
We ended up being much later than we had said amd the hosts were so sweet and responsive about it. They were super sweet, and really just have the neatest property and animals. Hercules is our new favorite goat ever.
We had a magical stay. We can't wait to come back and stay longer. My son asked to come back as soon as we left. Dave and Miken are such kind and welcoming people. We loved learning about the goats and getting to help hands on. Their dogs are special creatures. The sleeping quarters are cozy and the bed is extremely comfortable. We met as strangers and left as friends!
We had a wonderful time. Dave and Miken were excellent hosts. The goats were a true delight! It was also sweet to see the ducks and meet a lovely dog named Poe.Although the room was in the barn it was well-insulated and barely smelled of the goats. With the heater and heavy blankets it was easy to keep warm, and the shower had plenty of hot water and nice soaps. Only unexpected part was a unique toilet which required some instruction to use. Using it was quite easy though and we quickly adapted to it.
What a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our two kids (7 & 9) are still talking about it and our only regret is not being able to stay longer. From the goats to the ducks and their two adorable dogs, to star gazing, gold panning, the incredibly comfortable and warm accommodations, and just how welcome we felt, to not experience this opportunity would be a loss. We will definitely make every effort to return and I hope others can also have the opportunity to experience what these amazing hosts have created :)
We had the best time at the goat farm! It was definitely rustic, but cozy and welcoming in all the right ways. The kids were in heaven—they got to milk goats, feed them, and explore the whole property. They haven’t stopped talking about it!It felt like stepping into a slower, simpler rhythm of life, and we loved every minute of it. It’s not fancy, but it’s full of heart—and the memories we made here are the kind that stick. If you’re up for a little adventure and don’t mind getting your hands (or boots) a little dirty, this is such a special place to unwind and reconnect.
The hosts were super communicative and accommodating to everything we needed, even going so far as to give us a tour of the property when we arrived late at night. The space is super cozy (we stayed during a snow showers and very cold weather) and we loved being able to relax in the super modern and clean living space while being able to feed all the wonderful goats just outside. Being introduced to each goat on a first name basis and being told about their personality was so funny,. We will absolutely be back for a longer stay, can't recommend this place enough!
Absolutely the best hosts! Easy to work with. Quick responses to questions. Very accommodating. Beautiful setting. Perfect getaway. The goats were great barn-mates! Outdoor fire pit was perfect! Highly recommend!
This property is so cool and unique! After a long day on the trails it was great to come to the barn say hi to the goats and step in to the bungalow and it was nice and warm. The owner was so cooperative with the check in process as he met me first thing in the morning so I could go enjoy the trails. Trails lead right to the door! Thank you for a great stay and will return very soon
Miken and Dave gave us the perfect experience weekend I was looking for, Farm animals beat out hotel with pool everytime! Very patient and knowledgeable guidance to interact with their lovely goat family as much, or as little as you want. Shout out to Po and Gracie the sweetest greeters you could ever ask for. Also it rained our whole stay, and we didn't even notice! Had a fabulous time regardless!Thank you Miken and Dave! The Thompson gang will see you all again!
I grew up on a farm, so I knew what to expect. My family thought it was great! The apartment is actually in the barn, so every morning I was able to open the door and say good morning to the goats and ducks. Our apartment was awesome and very accommodating. We sat by the fire pit every night, loved up the goats, and waded in the creek, such a fun experience. You can also learn to milk a goat! Our hosts also offered classes. Goat milk soap making. Design and make your own full loaf (10 bars) of cold process soap. Materials and handouts provided so you can continue your soap making journey when you go home. Cordage making class: making rope from dried plants that can be used to create a variety of products and Mandala rock painting for beginners. We found perfect smooth river rocks in the creek and learned the techniques used to create beautiful patterns. It was like taking little piece of the haven home with you.
We don't usually visit Vermont in mud season so that was an education in itself. But we came to see family: the goats were just an added bonus adventure, a little test to see if the city kids would enjoy the farm. 100% wonderful experience: feeding a pen full of friendly baby goats, softer than puppies, milking a momma goat, learning their names, markings, the business, etc, just a delight. Dave & Miken showed love & enthusiasm for the work, & for my children. The cabin was very warm & cozy, beds were soft, Nespresso coffee yum, & surprisingly little smells or noise made it through the walls from the goats. We could tell in the morning when it was feeding times but mostly we slept through it unless one of the kids wanted to be up for it. When on the last day our van got stuck in the mud, Dave & Miken went above & beyond the call of duty to get us out, to feed us breakfast while we waited for the truck to winch us out, to entertain the kids & let us get our last round of goat snuggles, even though they had been milking & feeding babies round the clock for days on end. Can't recommend this stay enough!

The hosts are kind and hospitable. They were so welcoming, flexible, and have truly created a unique experience for goat lovers. The goats were so friendly! The ducks were shy but still fun to see! We’re looking forward to going back during warmer weather but still an overall great experience.

We loved our stay at this unique property. As experienced travelers, we appreciated the work done to convert a portion of the barn into a rental. The owners greeted us, told us all about their beautiful goats and we felt at home. The Chelsea area is remote and beautiful.
Dave and Miken have been so welcoming, we have discovered a real Vermont farm, the kids have just loved it !It is not just a place to stay, it is an experience !

Pleasant hosts. My daughter milked s goat! Great night’s sleep.
I felt like I was staying with family. The beds were so comfortable I didn't want to get up. The goats were great hosts;) and the rest of the animals were so fun to be around. There was a lovely fire pit that we used in the evening and our check in and out were extremely easy and stress free!
