Lastly, please note that our cottage is located in a beautiful wooded lakeside neighborhood, which means you may encounter local wildlife during your stay. This could include deer, skunks, raccoons, otters, ducks, mice, spiders, wasps, bees, crickets, black flies, ants, and other creatures that naturally call Northern Michigan home. These animals and insects are part of the area's natural environment, and we have no control over their presence.
Seasonally, guests may also notice midge flies (often called lake flies), which typically peak during April and May when surface water temperatures reach around 60°F. Mayfly season generally occurs between mid-June and July. While they can be a temporary nuisance, neither midges nor mayflies bite humans or carry diseases.
We do our best to maintain the property, but Mother Nature ultimately runs the show. Because wildlife and seasonal insects are a natural part of the Northern Michigan experience, we are unable to offer refunds related to encounters with wildlife, insects, or other natural environmental conditions.
