After hay was cut and left to dry for a few days, the horse drawn sulky would gather the hay and leave it collected in rows called windrows, which eased the process of loading the hay onto the wagon.

We visited in early May and the bluebells and yellow poppies carpeted the forest floors and the “lilac lawn” was just beginning to bloom.
