The villa is beautiful, spacious and very welcoming. The pool and outdoor area are very well maintained and inviting. After our daily excursions to beaches, Chania, the mountains, etc, it was very nice to have the pool and deck to look forward to in the afternoons.
Xara and her husband Harry are wonderful hosts. They welcomed us with home made baked goods and gave us home made olive oil as a departing gift. It was an unexpected surprise to find the fridge so well stocked with ouzo, beer, etc, as well.
Prior to and during our visit, Xara quickly, helpfully, and pleasantly responded to all of our queries. She and her husband Harry are extremely pleasant and we very much enjoyed meeting them. They live in a separate house on the property which isn’t all that visible from the villa. Xara’s written English is very good while her husband speaks English fluently.
The house is surrounded by pretty olive trees and has a great sea view from the pool and back deck. There are some chickens on site that woke us up quite early the first morning but wearing ear plugs the rest of the time took care of that.
There are two bathrooms, one of which has a very large jacuzzi tub. The other bath has a shower that’s a bit of a tight squeeze but manageable. The villa has WiFi though it was spotty in the bedrooms and immediately outside of the villa. The coffee maker gave us a bit of trouble at first; but we managed. (In a perfect world, every rental would come with a Nepresso machine.)
The location made for a good base for exploring historic Chania, Balos and Elafonissi beaches, and mountain villages, and was just a few minutes drive to restaurants and stores, while also feeling secluded. Overall, a wonderful experience.
