Our stay was great close to a great beach and walking distance to a nice restaurant. The aircon thermostat didn’t work so aircon went all night and got very cold. Our host was very helpful and lovely. Easy off street parking.

3 weeks refreshing stay at Ilona Apartments

We had a lovely 3 week stay at Ilona Apartments. Staff always helpful. Room was big and AC good. Bed could been softer must admit for 3 weeks stay. Short distance to bus stop and grocery stores. Beaches within walking distance though taking the bus a few stops gave better options. No issues finding parking near the hotel (Ilona also have their own area for parking). We were there late august to mid sept so might be more pressure in high season. Buses usually quite crowded. Renting a car recommended , you get to see so much more of Crete (Anna Cars recommended). All in all, can recommend Ilona Apartments.

To improve the e perience and safety I would say that a smoke detector is necessary and update the old style cooking hob arrangement please. The apartment and hospitality is excellent. I loved my stay. Thank you.

The definition of Cretan hospitality

From the first day to the last Mr Giwrgos and the manager were friendly, helpful and the ultimate hosts. Super clean rooms, fully resourced and comfortable with private balcony and a beautiful communal roof garden. Complimentary fresh fruits served daily. Plenty of assistance provided with arranging tours and getting around. Great location, a very short walk to several beautiful beaches and a scenic beach stroll to Nea Chora and Chania town centre. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we will definitely be back to stay at Ilona again. Jo & Mike

The room was nice and clean with air conditioning, little kitchen corner and a big balcony. Very short walk to the beach. To the city center a bit more effort (~30min walk), but the view is pretty along the coastline. Check in time was supposed to start at 14, but the room wasn't ready at that time. We left luggage to the reception and the lady sent us to walk to the beach and cafe and come back in 1-2 hours. It was a little bit disappointing but ok, because the cafe in the beach is nice and the room was at least well cleaned. Day before we left, we ask the reception lady if they can book us a taxi for the next morning, to go to the airport. She said yes and said it will come at the time we agreed. Well, for some reason unknown, there was no taxi nowhere outside! Also there was nobody in the reception even though it was supposed to be open. We had to walk to the next bigger street to catch a taxi randomly by luck.

La struttura è modesta ma confortevole. Il bagno piccolino ma con un piatto doccia strepitoso. La vista mare c'è ma un pochino tirata. Purtroppo bisogna solo sperare che i vicini siano educati, i rumori sopratutto la notte si sentono tantissimo. Tutte le mattine fichi appena raccolti con pomodori limoni ed arance a disposizione. Hotellet preges av at det er eldre og enklere standard. Jeg likte alikevel rommet. Under oppholdet siste natten gikk skyve døren til badet i lås. Jeg fikk den nesten ikke opp. Det var ikke hyggelig. Steke platen, var to plater av eldre type, som gjorde at strømmen gikk i hotell rommet når jeg skulle bruke den. Heldigvis var service damen tilgjengelig og byttet til en annen stekeplate. Jeg fikk ikke ny bade håndkle etter først 4 dag og dagen før jeg skulle reise. Jeg har vært på tilsvarende 2 stjerner før hvor de byttet annen hver dag. Det som var fint, var at det var gang avstand til Chania by og til strender i motsatt retning. Fikk låne en parasol som jeg brukte noen dager på stranda, ellers lå jeg under de store trærne ved flere av strendene. Bade temperaturen i havet var helt fantastisk i august. Det var en liten mini butikk i nærheten av hotellet og to store mat butikker oppe ved hovedveien. Jeg utforsket nærområdene ved å gå, og er et sted jeg kan tenke meg å komme tilbake til. Det går an å gå langs kysten inn til Chania på ca 20 minutter eller ta buss som tar ca 5 minutter. I gaten og området hvor jeg bodde, opplevdes det litt som å bo på landet med høner/gjess/geiter, men det var bare hyggelig. Det var også mulighet å ta heis i bygget, som gjorde det lettere å frakte bagasje opp i 2 etasje. Ang hav utsikt, kunne jeg bare se havet når jeg stod oppreist på balkongen. Rommet var romslig, var plass til 3 personer.

Our stay was excellent. Property is clean, towels and linen regularly changed. The staff is friendly. The management leaves fresh fruit for grab every day. The location is excellent both for visiting the island and for lazy days by the nearby beach. The kitchenette is equipped with basic facilities. A microwave would definitely be welcome. The property is in a great location: walking distance to the beach, a supermarket on the corner, and a convenient bus stop. The property itself is unique because there is a lovely roof top garden area for sunning and enjoying the view. The owner goes out of his way to make you feel at home. During this recent visit we feasted on tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, oranges, and fresh figs that the owner gave out free to guests. The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily with reliable internet connection.

EXCELLENT THREE NIGHT STAY

Excellent. Spotlessly clean, quiet, very welcoming, easy parking and though the car was needed to get to the centre, that was OK. Good signage from main road but beware the Google Maps because it does not show roads clearly. Cannot recommend highly enough for the price. Old fashioned but everything worked well.
