Wyndham Gettysburg Hotel & Conference Center

4/10 Poor

"Here’s a more polished version that still sounds natural and honest: I’m giving this hotel 2 stars mainly because of the reservation issue we experienced. I specifically called ahead and explained that we would be arriving a day later, but that I was still paying for the first night because I wanted to make sure our room would be held. I was reassured multiple times that everything was fine and that our room would be waiting for us. Unfortunately, when we arrived the next day, our reserved room with two queen beds was no longer available and we ended up with a king bed instead, which was really frustrating considering I had called ahead and paid to avoid exactly that situation. The hotel itself is decent overall, especially if you’re in town for sports tournaments like we were. Having washer and dryer access was super helpful, and the breakfast vouchers were a nice gesture too. Staff was pleasant, but the rooms definitely need a little more attention and upkeep. There was a strong odor in the room that honestly smelled musty, almost like feet, and it made the stay less comfortable than expected. Overall, not the worst stay, but the reservation mix-up and room condition were disappointing."

"I visited this Motel6 about 2 years ago and it was a much nicer experience then than my stay this time. The bathtub had a ring around it. The rest of the room was ok and not much noise other than a dog that would go crazy if you made noise walking or opening the door during the waking hours. Other than that it was fine for a 2-night stay. I did ask to stay on the top floor (so I wouldn't have to hear people walking above me). One small tip would be to park near an entry door closest to your room if you're ok walking up stairs. I felt very safe and loved that there were lots of places to eat and to shop nearby. Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and also a Dunkin right across the street."

"Property was outdated and very dirty. Room floors were greasy and very noisy. Pool and hot tub area were somewhat clean but you had to go ask for towels at front desk. Breakfast was a joke. It said it had fruit and yogurt but you had to ask staff for it and they were reluctant to put it out. It says it a Wyndham property but it’s operated by a third party and that was evident. I have kids and it’s not the property fault, but the clientele that we experienced were oblivious to their kids splashing the adults in the hot tub, screaming in the hallways and absolutely no manners. Spend the money and stay elsewhere"

"The host at the restaurant was great. but...We started in an outside room that had a very old decrepit bathroom. The ceiling was patched in one corner and the floor, and not very well done. The molding in that corner was peeling away from the wall and splintered at the bottom and very discolored. The tub was old and cruddy looking although I do believe it was cleaned well, just old and damaged. The bathroom also had a bad rotten egg like smell. Our party had interior rooms so we asked to change rooms which was handled well. The new room was much better. Although the sliding door in the shower came off the track the second day. Also a very loud fan in the air system. We turned that off. Fortunately the seasonal temperatures were ok. Last thing. There were infant swimming lessons being given in the pool outside the room where an infant SCREAMED and cried for an hour. The noise was very disturbing (we were trying to nap), as well as upsetting! Poor baby!! The staff offered to relocate us. Because of our earlier room experience, we declined. We were told the swimming instructor had a contract with the hotel and nothing could be done. Apparently that was more important than the guests' comfort (and he poor baby)."
