About this property
Sunset Harbor on the Gulf is a 2 bedroom Vacation Rental Townhouse in Cedar Key.
You have to see Sunset Harbor Vacation Rental to believe it. This window filled end unit townhouse offers a panoramic view of the quaint village of Cedar Key, the Gulf of Mexico and the islands of the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge. Located adjacent to the City Park beach you have an unobstructed view of the entire beach that is only a two minute walk from the rental.
Sunset Harbor is a townhome so staying here will give you the added cardio benefit of stairs. You enter from the ground level and up a flight to the two bedrooms and bath. The spacious waterside master bedroom has a king size bed plus a private balcony on the Gulf with dolphin views (dolphins daily do their frolicking just off shore of your bedroom).
The Guest bedroom here is equipped with three twin size beds (two bunks and one individual twin.) This room has glass french doors. The Bathroom has tub/shower combo sink and toilet and plenty of towels.
Now up the stairs to the top floor and main living area where you are sure to be awed by not only the furnishings of the place but also by the panoramic view of the Sea and Village and the beach and the islands. Really its that cool. Promise.
This top level is all tile floor, cathedral ceilings and more glass that you can imagine stretching all the way to the very high ceilings.
The Living room is comfortable and spacious and affords a Gulf view from every where. The kitchen is spacious and includes a dining table for gathering. The counter tops are granite and the kitchen has all the appliances, both large and small. There is also a half bath up here.
In addition to all this is something quite unusual. Pull down a retractable stairway and climb up to a balcony where you find a queen size bed. The ceiling here is a window lined pergola with glass as the end wall. Sleep here and you literally sleep with the stars. A note of importance is called for here. Even though this additional bed gives the indication that more than 6 guests can be accommodated here we strictly enforce a maximum rule of 6 guests only. No more. Please do not allow more than 6. Additionally please do not allow children to sleep unattended on the balcony platform bed. The danger of falling is too great to take the risk. Remember this is a balcony overlooking the kitchen and living room and it has no walls. Only rails separate the bed from a possible fall. Thanks for your co operation here.
Sunset Harbor is just what the name implies. We overlook a beautiful harbor of Cedar Key where the working waterfront is in constant activity from the clammers, oystermen and fisherman bring in their daily harvest. We look directly west for spectacular sunsets over the harbor and the village of Cedar Key. We make a promise that you will be thrilled with the place and the panoramic view. Note: Currently, No washer / dryer.
We need to make you aware of the parking at Sunset Harbor. There are seven townhouses here in a row. If you have a compact car or golf cart then you can park in the breezeway under the house. (by the way here under the breeze way is also where you will find the laundry room).
Being the end unit Sunset Harbor unit just needs to be respectful and not block the folks at the Cottage that is close by. You must share the space by not blocking the vehicle from this cottage. Otherwise if you have an additional vehicle you can park in the grassy area across the parking lot from the townhomes.
The rule here is `be a good neighbor and in most cases they will be good right back`.

This was a fantastic place to stay! I so enjoyed being right beside the water and watching the dolphins. A very, very nice place to stay that feels private but is still close enough to walk to whatever you want to do.
Beautiful place. Delightful sea life to watch any time of day. Had everything we needed, clean, very updated decor. Cedar Key is super chill. We love it!
Nice large living room with two different views of beach and ocean. There were some small issues but nothing that impacted our stay negatively. We would return!
Was a wonderful time! Loved the views of the water and the beach. The dolphins visited very frequently.
The A/C did stop working due to not draining but we opened all windows up and were lucky with a breeze. We will be back!
We enjoyed our stay at Sunset Harbor. It was beautiful. The description and pictures are exactly what you can expect. Great communication, location and the place was very clean. We would love to return some day.
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We found it very relaxing. The condo did have some damage from the recent hurricane but it didn’t affect our stay. We rented a golf cart and enjoyed driving around the island. We saw dolphins every single day and the view was incredible. Coffee just tastes better when you are on a balcony looking at the ocean.
The location of this property is fabulous! It was clean & cozy and we loved the balconies and views. The kitchen was well stocked with the equipment you need for making meals but you need to purchase spices and such. There are 3 floors of stairs and they are narrow - we are in shape so that wasn't an issue but could be for others. The loft bed could be such a great spot but maybe best for the young or those who can handle such a ladder in the middle of the night. We didn't use the bedroom with the twin beds so I can't attest to their comfort. The master bed could use an upgrade but we both have slight back issues so maybe not everyone agrees. However, we plan to return as we truly loved it!!!

Stunning views and fantastic bird and dolphin viewing however the apartment itself was very dirty we had to clean the tv screen to be able to watch it there was trash under the sofas and beds the plates and cups had dried food on them we had to sanitize everything before we could use it, it was tastefully furnished and comfortable but the hvac unit unbearably noisy and we had to leave a day early as we couldn’t sleep because it being so noisy, the queen bed with the pull down steps sounded very appealing however it was a quite wobbly ladder and none of us personally were able to make it up there and wouldn’t want to be tackling it in the night to use the bathroom, it may not be an issue for someone else be aware it could be for some, the little town is adorable and food and drink extremely good value for money lovely friendly people everywhere we would definitely return but perhaps not to this accommodation
We very much enjoyed our stay. The views cannot be beat! Enjoyed a cup of tea on the balcony watching the fishing boats go out in the morning, and having a glass of wine there in the evening. My daughter loved the loft bed with windows all around. We loved the balcony off the main bedroom and listening to the waves on the rocks at night after a rainstorm. The change in landscape from high to low tide was fun to observe at this great location. You can still see the results of the big August hurricane on many properties in town, but it did not affect our stay. Our only complaint was that a few of the dishes and glasses in the cabinets were not clean (e.g. lipstick on the glasses and food stuck to pans). In all fairness, how would management know if a previous vacationer didn't clean the dishes properly and put them back? However, the dishwasher was very moldy and had an odor. We had to clean it thoroughly with clorox wipes and run it empty a few times. This was brought to the attention of management afterwards, and was to be addressed. Other than that, we were happy with the facilities and I would definitely recommend!

An Adventure
Communication was good with management after arriving they were able to give us new door code and replace coffee pot that was not working. What should’ve been communicated was that there was a hurricane that came through there not too long before our stay and left a lot of damage. Our unit number seven was under repair. The listing was in accurate since there was no washer and dryer. The downstairs had been swept away and was being rebuilt. The surrounding condos and adjacent properties were not so lucky. There was lots of debris nails in the driveway screws and lots of household items that came and went with the tide. It would’ve been nice to have known surrounding area was gross and I would have asked for a better rate. It was definitely an adventurous surprise to say the least. We accidentally forgot our tacklebox, which was our fault, but we surely didn’t think anyone would have stolen it. Unfortunately they did. The beds were comfortable and the view was spectacular and the local atmosphere was very welcoming. we definitely fell in love with this little town and will be coming back. Definitely have learned to ask more questions and get more details about where we are staying and the environment surrounding it. This little town is working hard to recover and their spirit is strong.

Dissapointed
Our recent stay initially promised tranquility and relaxation. The view is lovely but our comfort was short-lived due to several issues.
Firstly, we encountered a broken water heater only after unpacking, leaving us without hot water, in fact no running water at all in the shower. Despite my immediate communication requesting help, the problem was not responded to that evening and persisted into the next day.
Additionally, we discovered mold within the premises, exacerbating our discomfort. While I understand the challenges of coastal maintenance, the presence of mold posed a significant health risk for me and required several days to recover after checking out.
While the host offered to relocate us the following day, the uncertainty of the alternative accommodation was a justifiable concern cosidering the circumstances. When I suggested a discount for the first night I was ignored. Despite canceling the additional night, the full price was charged, including all fees for the troubled night.
Despite these setbacks, the property's view and proximity were notable. However, the unresolved issues underscore the importance of thorough maintenance and attentive management.
This townhouse was just right for our group vacation. The location was perfect - everything within walking distance. The firework show for New Years blew us away!
Absolutely loved my stay here at Cedar Key, definitely a place to go to relax and recharge. The unit was just as described, clean and beautifully updated. It does get a little warm in the unit, but nothing a small fan can’t fix! The view was absolutely amazing, enjoyed watching dolphins from the balcony pretty much all day every day! Very short walk to the beach and small downtown area. Would definitely stay again!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Watching the dolphins from the bedroom in the mornings was an incredible experience. Also, the location is great - restaurants/shopping are very close by. Would definitely recommend!
