  • In the heart of the Langhe, a UNESCO heritage site, you will find this charming little house in the medieval center of Castino, near the castle. Entirely restored maintaining the historical characteristics. The private garden offers several suggestive fresh and sunny spaces. You can enjoy the famous wines al fresco, prepare a tasty barbecue, or simply relax in the sun. On the first floor you will find a modern kitchen, a romantic fireplace near the ancient dining table, a comfortable sofa bed and direct access to the garden. On the second floor you will be amazed by the historic furnishings. Beautiful double bed, modern bathroom with shower, sunny terrace overlooking the walls of the ancient church. A two minute walk from the center of Castino, you will find a grocery store, one with fresh pasta and local gastronomic specialties, two bars, a tobacconist, a typical restaurant and a renowned pizzeria. Twenty minutes from Alba, the capital of the White Truffle and ten minutes from Cortemilia, the capital of Piedmont hazelnuts. In about half an hour you can reach the lands of the famous Barolo.

Sweet Stay at Hibiscus of Gautier

Mariangela and Roberta are wonderful hosts of this adorable, well stocked apartment. We spent six nights here and enjoyed the beautiful garden and all it offered, including the BBQ! Morning coffees on the balcony before we ventured out to explore the area are one of our favourite memories of our time in Castino.

Perfect location to investigate Piedmont

It was second time we selected this location to stay a couple of days in Piedmont. Appartement ist equipped with love and here you will find all you need for vacation. Environment is very beautiful for hiking or driving around to taste different wines

Home base

Great property in a cute village! Easy access to vineyards and Alba. We spent three weeks, using this as our home away from home. It was the perfect place to relax (it was so quiet!) and the garden was fantastic! The location in Alta Lange was perfect. It was rather warm in Alba, but perfect when we went “home”. Roberta and Mariangela were amazing hosts, and a pleasure to work with!

Piedmonte at its best.

Mariangela’s lovely home became our home away from home quickly and easily. It was warm, inviting and so peaceful. The perfect final leg of our trip. The community of Castino was delightful. The people were friendly and welcoming. We were the only strangers in town yet we felt right at home. The apartment was clean and well appointed. And Roberta was delightful, greeted us warmly, and helped us with our every need. Mariangela and Roberta communicated with us promptly when we had questions or needs. Thank you so much for a delightful week.We look forward to returning.

Gem in Langhe Hills

We had a great stay, the house was lovely and so well equipped - it had everything we needed and a few extras touches from Mariangela and Roberta. Thank you for the wine and Pasta, it made our first night so easy after a long drive. Communication was excellent and such a warm welcome and great recommendations from Roberta. We would love to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hibiscus de Gautier. Grazie mille 😃

Warm hospitality

This small house is a real gem. We have spent several holidays in similar houses but this is exceptionally well equipped with everything one might need to cook (incl. salt, sugar, olive oil etc). Upon our arrival on a Sunday there was a Prosecco in the fridge and all the ingredients for a pasta with sauce! Simply incredible! In the garden there is also a Weber grill for barbecue! The hosts Roberta and Mariangela are extremely friendly, helpful and always available. Castino is very quiet so one can easily relax in the wonderful garden or explore Piemont, its food and of course its wines! We will certainly come back in the future!

Excellent vacation

Roberta en Mariangela reserved us a warm welcome upon arrival with flowers, pasta, sauce, typical biscuits from the area. The communication with Roberta was excellent before and during our stay in Castino. (we arrived much later than foreseen due to traffic problems). The house was very clean and the comfort of the bed was exemplary. In the house you find everything you need in order to live comfortably. There are a lot of brochures about the area. The quality of the wifi network is perfect. The garden is also very nice. Our hosts tried to help us , responded quickly to our questions and supported us in finding truffels. Needless to say that this is the area of Barolo and Barbera wines. So if you like a good glass of wine you are in the right place. The village is very quiet; something we really appreciate. For us a AAA+ vacation. Thank you Roberta and Mariangela for heaving us, we really enjoyed our stay. We intend to come back. All the best. Annick & Guido

Een zeer typische karaktervolle woning met gesloten tuin gelegen in de Langhestreek van Piëmonte, liefdevol onderhouden door 2 zussen. Op 30 km van de middeleeuwse provinciehoofdstad Alba, burchten en kerkjes, met wijnranken glooiende hellingen; terecht beschermd Unesco-landschap. In Castino op 100 meter van de 'casa' een 'vriendelijke kruidenierszaak inclusief brood'. Zeer vriendelijke charmante uitbaatsters en toffe bewoners. Naast Alba prachtige pittoreske oude dorpen in de valleien (de 'Langhe-valle') en hoger op de hellingen (de 'alta Langhe) zoals Neive, Mango, Barbaresco, Monteforte d'Alba, Sinio, Diano di Alba, Serralunga Valle, Grinzane Cavour, Bossolasco, Murazzano, Roddi én natuurlijk Barolo met zijn typische wijnen én museumwijnkasteel in de middeleeuwen eigendom van de rijke en machtige familie Faletti. Met andere woorden: tijd te kort om je bezoekdoelen rond te krijgen. Een auto is wel nodig. Ook ideaal voor gepassioneerde fietsers !

Wir waren das zweite Mal zu Gast bei Mariangela und Roberta in ihrer Ferienwohnung Hibiskus von Gautier.Wieder wurden wir herzlichst empfangen, und in der Wohnung fanden wir alles vor, was man für ein erstes leckeres Essen benötigt. Danke dafür!Alle Räume sind gemütlich eingerichtet und super sauber, die Küche sehr gut ausgestattet. Und das große Bett lädt zum Träumen ein. Bleibt noch der schöne Garten zu erwähnen, der mit viel Liebe gepflegt wird.Das Dorfleben in Castino hat uns sofort wieder begeistert, besonders das lebendige Treiben in der Bar und die beiden freundlichen Damen im Alimentari. Auch wenn man kaum italienisch spricht.Ein herzliches Dankeschön an unsere beiden Gastgeberinnen.

Très agréable

La maison est très conviviale. Quand on est arrivé, elle était chauffée, ce qui est très appréciable. Roberta, nous a donné des adresses pour dîner, sortir. Le jardin est agréable, l'accueil est chaleureux. La maison est très propre, il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour cuisiner, elle est très fonctionnelle !! Il y a un plaid dans l'armoire en cas de besoin, mais il fait très bon (nul besoin). En revanche, mon mari est grand (1m88), le lit était juste pour lui, une personne plus grande aurait du mal à dormir. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter. Nous recommandons les yeux fermés.

Zauberhaftes Dorfhaus

Erst einmal vielen Dank an die Gastgeberin Mariangela. Mariangela ist sehr herzlich und hat uns sogar mit Leckereien versorgt. Die Unterkunft ist urig gemütlich für 2 Personen. Kleiner Kritikpunkt: Für uns fehlten bequeme Sitzgelegenheiten ( statt Sofa z.B. 2 Sessel ). In der Küche ist alles vorhanden, was man für einen Urlaubsaufenthalt benötigt. Das Schlafzimmer hat sehr gute Matratzen und wir haben auch, Dank der Ruhe, sehr gut geschlafen. Der Ort strahlt Gemütlichkeit aus und die kleine Trattoria del Peso in der Nähe, ist sehr gut und bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen. Der Garten ist ein verwunschenes kleines Refugium. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können diese Unterkunft bestens empfehlen.

Idylle für 2

Sehr freundlicher Check-In durch Roberta. Wir wurden mit einem wunderschönen Blumenstrauß begrüßt, auch eine Flasche Spumante war kaltgestellt und selbst für das erste Abendessen war gesorgt - dies alles hatten wir Mariangela zu verdanken. Im Ferienhaus selbst fehlt es an nichts, alles ist sauber, schönes Bad und gute Betten. Der Garten eine Idylle, das Dorf und seine Bewohner, die wir in der Trattoria, in der Bar oder im Alimentari trafen, sind uns ans Herz gewachsen. Kleine Einschränkungen : Mückengitter wären schön und etwas bequemeres Mobiliar im Garten. Für mehr als zwei Personen wäre uns das Haus allerdings zu klein.

Heiße Nächte ;-)

Wir können die Lobeshymnen zur Unterkunft und den sehr freundlichen Vermietern nur zustimmen. Jedoch hätten wir auch Verbesserungsvorschläge und Anregungen. Wer wie wir im August seinen Urlaub im schönen Castino verbringt muss mit großer Hitze und Stechmücken rechnen. Leider hat die Unterkunft weder Klimaanlage noch Fliegenschutzgitter an den Fenstern. Das führte für uns zu schlaflosen Nächten. Die Zimmer erscheinen auf den Fotos größer als sie tatsächlich sind. Mehr als 2 Personen dort unterzubringen dürfte ganz schön eng werden. Für uns wäre das jedenfalls nichts. Die Einrichtung ist charmant und dem liebevollen Charme des kleinen Häuschens entsprechend. Bequem geht anders. Wir hatten zum Glück unsere Lafuma Liegen mitgebracht um im Garten entspannen zu können.

Geweldige ontvangst door beide eigenaressen de gezusters Mariangela en Roberta. Sfeervol, smaakvol en gerieflijk huisje in klein dorpje. Fantastische tuin vol bloeiende bloemen. Alleen lekker ligbed voor de siesta ontbrak!

Ferien in einem schönen Dorfhaus

Das Häuschen ist ganz entzückend und für zwei Personen hervorragend ausgestattet. In dem kleinen Garten haben wir uns gerne aufgehalten. Das Dorf hat alles, um Urlauberherzen zu erfreuen: Restaurant, Alimentari, Pasta fresca und natürlich auch eine Bar. Ca. einen Kilometer vom Dorfkern entfernt kann man die ausgezeichneten Haselnüsse der Familie Scavin im Hofladen kaufen. Die Restauranttipps der Vermieterinnen waren Gold wert. Das Städtchen Alba haben wir sehr genossen. Wir können dieses Wohlfühlhaus nur weiterempfehlen. Angelika und Horst Mertmann

Idyll innen im Haus samt Gartenpur.

Sehr schön, erholsam. Im Dorf muss man das Haus in einer Gasse schon suchen. Parkplatz ca 80 m weg bei Kirche. Schöne Ausflüge, Weinberge, kurvige Straßen, Alba und Asti besichtigen lohnt sich. In Wohn-und Schlafbereich alles da, super Bett, alles sauber, in Küche alles da. Toller großer Kühlschrank. Idyllischer Garten. Freundliche Gastgeberin..

Tolle Unterkunft

Wir waren Ende Mai für eine Woche hier. Der Empfang von Roberta war sehr herzlich mit vielen Tipps für die Umgebung. Das Haus, der Garten und die Lage sind fantastisch. Es fehlt an nichts, den Aufenthalt zu genießen und das Piemont zu erkunden.
