It was a self check in/out which was very convenient. You can text the staff and they are very responsive. The place is very quaint, older but very well kept and clean. The only thing that was difficult is the parking is very tight and small area so we had to park about 2 blocks away. This was the only negative experience. The bed was very comfortable and there is no AC but our room had 5 fans throughout so it was not an issue on a 78 degree day. It was quiet and we had great water pressure and the La Jolla room we stayed it was very spacious.

EASY. We basically enjoyed our stay - it was easy to find, easy to park, easy walk to downtown and although I got no response to my question via email or Expedia text the day before, once I found the phone number, they responded via text almost immediately. I really like the ease of self check in/check out. But fair warning that they do NOT serve breakfast as advertised, and there is NO air conditioning (I realize this is common in beach communities, but even so...we were so hot which made it difficult to sleep.) Super cute room though, and comfortable bed. I would have loved to turn that fireplace on in the winter. :)

Ripped screen on door making safety compromised as there is no air conditioning and windows need to be open. No private patio or terrace as advertised. Pungent odor of cleaning products.

Our room Pelican Cove was decent. There was no AC, just fans in the windows. We could not open the blinds to let some air in because we were on the first floor. The advertise that breakfast is provided, but it really is just coffee and granola bars. I will say it was fairly convenient to stay there for the convenience of walking into Carlsbad village. There really was no one to contact about any issue you might have. We were very grateful that Alfredo was on the premises as he was able to address a few issues that arose. I would not recommend staying. We spoke with other guests who are also dissatisfied. The train also goes by during the evening when you’re trying to sleep.!

The location is great. Charming rooms however the rooms could use air conditioning. It was brutally hot throughout the night. The bed was super comfortable and room was exceptionally clean. I was a little lost with how to get into the room at first. I didn't get a confirmation email with the room code so when I got there, I had to call several times for someone to answer and give me the code to get into the room. The next day, I left for the day and when I returned, the code didn't work and I had to call again and they gave me a new one with no explanation of why it could've happened? Not sure if it happens often. Other than that, very cute place and the price and location were worth the stay.

We booked the Laguna room for three nights but ended up couldn't stay for more than one night due to privacy/safety issues. Check-in was difficult because the property does not have a front desk. No check-in instructions were sent on the day of arrival, so we had to contact the property and wait for a response. The room lacked a closet, drawers, and hangers. It also did not have air conditioning, only a ceiling fan and window fan. The room had privacy and safety issues. The blinds had holes, and people walking by common walk way could see inside. The following day, the smoke alarm chirped every 30 seconds. We reported all these issues to the property and received no response. We were left with no choice but to abandon the booking and find another place for the remainder of the trip late at night. The staff response time is extremely slow to no response at all. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

The room.was extremely hot. There was like 4 fans in the room but NO AC. No air flow at all. There were bugs in the room we were but up like 15 times. We spent most of our time out of the room because it was so miserable and hard to sleep. Left super early next day because of how hot it was. Will try again in winter when you don't need AC.

What a great room for the family! The grounds are pretty with unique plants. There’s no pool but it’s one street to the beach. The hotel has sand buckets and folding chairs to use. On Wed evenings there’s a street market two blocks away. Great restaurants everywhere. I loved the clean, fresh-smelling pillows and sheets.
