The newly built Villa Artemide is located in the municipality of Capoliveri, in the small, quiet village of Madonna Delle Grazie. It is such a peaceful place that in the 18th century, this village was chosen as a refuge by the Augustinian friars returning from the island of Montecristo, and in gratitude for the hospitality they received, they built the sanctuary, which houses a painting of the highest value—the sketch for which is said to have been drawn by Michelangelo Buonarroti.
