Heaven in the Ocean

I can say that was the best ever guest house in the world ! Strong recommend to you to stay at suite site which has great balcony !! And this guest house shadowed Magellan trip so whole concept was ship :) I like Manager and staffs at hotel very much. And wonderful perfect breakfast. Cheese and smoked hams are unforgettable ! It is the "Real Heaven".

Rent och fräscht rum med sköna sängar. Dock var poolen full med skräp och inte alls inbjudande, det tyckte vi var tråkigt eftersom vi hade sett fram emot att använda den. Frukosten var standard, inget utöver det vanliga. Upplevde att vi inte fick valuta för pengarna. Nästa gång väljer vi nog att sova i Kalk Bay som låg i närheten då det kändes som en mer levande stad och hade mer utbud av restauranger.

Got a 30m2 room instead of booked 75m2 duplex. No compensation. I honestly got a feeling that once too much the same excuse of a supposed leak was used not to rent out the reserved room (see previous reviews). Room itself is nice and well appointed, nice bathroom. Got a stained pillow. Secondary Building is noisy as room doors are super thin, and Front door of building is not suitable for the strong winds that are common here, creating a continuous blowing noise like a vacuum cleaner. Although not advertised, the neglected pool offers a sad sight... Early checkout time:10h00.

Beautiful guesthouse, amazing views, comfy room and nice staff, one thing I did not realize the hotel is on a pretty steep hill so be ready to be out of breath when you walk down to the main road, the penguins are a short walk and the town is nice but busy during holiday season.

Weird and uncomfortable experience

For us, our stay was a complete miss.... when we arrived around 2 PM for checking in, the front door was locked and a note on the door mentioned that the owner was out for max 30 minutes. Unfortunately he did not show up at all that day... a guy showed up and let us in and gave us our room keys, but had no clue about further details and neither about customer service. I tried to get in touch with the owner since I knew he had made a restaurant reservation for us on that day - unfortunately, I tried via telephone (he left his mobile phone number on the door), via mail, via text but no reply from him.... we ended up calling several restaurants ourselves (choices are limited on 26 December) and finally found a restaurant open and with a tabel available. The next morning, during breakfast, I saw a person who I assumed was the owner and that proved to be true later on... Unfortunately, all he did was trying to avoid us and not talking to us - we did not get a welcome, neither an apology... As a result, we truly felt uncomfortable throughout our stay. What a disappointment !

Great Choice and lovely room

very good location, very nice host and pretty room. We really love the balcony which can enjoy the sea view there. The breakfast is good. We definitely will recommend to others.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Magellan's Passage. The room was very comfortable and had a balcony with a beautiful view of the bay. We enjoyed being close enough to town to dine at the restaurants and go kayaking with the penguins (as well as visit the penguin colony) but far enough up the hillside to enjoy quietness. We both had a massage through the spa there (across the street) and it was truly one of the best massages we've had in a long time. Darwin and his staff are amazing. We'll definitely stay again when we get back to Simonstown!

EXCELLENT HOTEL IN SIMONS TOWN

This is a modern hotel with a small number of rooms. It is on a steep hill which gives great views. Our room was fantastic. A nice bedroom, with a large, well appointed modern bathroom. But then there was a spiral staircase to our lounge. The lounge had views to the mountain at the back but the view over the bay to the front was exceptional. After we had visited the local penguin colony (a must do in Simons Town) all we wanted to do was to relax in our sitting room and enjoy the view. The furniture and fittings in the room(s) were very tasteful, and the staff could not have been more helpful with our luggage, providing directions and generally making us feel welcomed. The breakfast was excellent, served in the dining room with all glass walls with a view over the bay. The hotel provides a dinner service if booked in advance. We are glad we took up this option. We had a lovely meal with great wine. We were the only guests who had booked dinner that night and it was like having a meal prepared by your own private chef. Six out of five stars.

Stunning views , a great bedroom ( I think we were upgraded because it was quiet season) , very good value for money. The room we got was very comfortable, spacious with spectacular views. The house and area is safe ( security even at the bottom of the road). The manager is a great people person. He makes you feel very welcome and it’s home from home. I will definitely go back

I was pleasantly surprised from the condition of the property to the staff who managed Magellan! I am an extensive traveler and this is by far one of the best properties I have come across and if I ever return to Cape Town, I will seek out Magellan's Passage.

Conforto e tranquilidade

Excelente acomodação em rua tranquila, poucas acomodações e muito conforto! Equipe do hotel muito atenciosa e prestativa. Superou nossas expectativas. O único ponto negativo era a localização longe do centro da cidade e comércio local (bares e restaurantes) fecham cedo (último pedido 20:30h) e não há possibilidade de ir a pé. Se não tiver um carro alugado ou não estiver disposto a subir morros na volta pra casa, não é o hotel ideal.

Guesthouse med hiss och underbar utsikt.

Modernt nybyggt guesthouse med hiss 1,5 km från Simons Towns centrum där vissa rum har magnifik utsikt över bukten.Möjlighet finns att vid frukost beställa middag till kvällen. Trevlig hjälpsam personal.
