Ask we made our way up the rugged dirt road leading to this property, I sincerely had my doubts as to what I had booked. However, once we walked through the gate to the property it was like entering another world. The place is beautiful landscaped with a lovely pool and comfortable and tasteful lobby/ sitting areas. The rooms are very spacious and clean and tasteful. It is a bit of a hike into town but doable and the town of Tilcara is so quaint and genuine especially the restaurant La Picanteria on the square by the church that we ate at the three days we were there. The only thing this place could improve on was the breakfast which was adequate but nothing more. Offering eggs, even hard boiled ones would have been nice.

I would definitely recommend this place. It’s a beautiful building with a beautiful garden and a great location. But the best thing about this hotel our by far the owners! They go out of their way to help you in any way possible (recommendations for eating/activities; they offered leftover cookies, pastries and fresh coffee in the afternoon; they even gave their number in case we have problems on our upcoming roadtrip in the north of salta). The breakfast is really amazing and includes self-made jam and self-baked pastries).

The owners are two brothers who love their job. During breakfast they serve fresh self-baked cookies. And after breakfast you get hints where to go today. These are just two little details of many :-)

Really lovely place to stay. The owners are so friendly and helpful with recommendations and made sure we had their number Incase we needed anything while we were out. Beds are very comfortable and breakfast one of the better ones we have had on our travels. They make their own jams and breads :) definitely recommend

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cet hôtel. Accueil chaleureux, surclassement, emplacement idéal, parking sécurisé, chambre spacieuse et décorée avec goût, jardin magnifique et petit déjeuner exceptionnel ! Bref simplement parfait! Le seul tout petit bémol est la connexion internet dans les chambres un peu faible...

Wir waren für 4 Nächte in Cafayate und würden das Hotel auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen. Es wird von zwei Brüdern geführt, die einem bei jeder Frage weiter helfen und sehr freundlich sind. Morgens servieren sie am Buffet verschiedenste selbst gebackene Spezialitäten und es gibt einen schönen Garten mit Pool hinter dem Haus. Das Hotel liegt nur zwei Straßen von der Plaza entfernt und die Umgebung von Cafayate ist wunderschön.

Best place in town to stay

The hotel staff were extremely helpful. Christian gave us advice for winery visits; ordered taxis to visit them and made a lot of the cakes and slices on offer for breakfast. The pool and provided towels were greatly appreciated in the hot weather we had been having.

Outstanding Stay

My son and I had a marvelous trip in Salta and Jujuy provincias in mid-April. Portal del Santo was one of the highlights of the trip. Owners Damian and Cristian make this place special. The room was very comfortable, the grounds beautiful and the breakfast amazing. If you stay anywhere else in Cafayate, you are missing out on this gem!

A very welcoming atmosphere. Upstairs room was very spacious and airy with lovely view out to garden and pool in back yard. Well-maintained gardens front and back. Very friendly helpful staff despite them having little english. Very nice breakfast, home made. Conveniently-located close to other facilities in the town centre but less noise from traffic since it is not on the main road.
