4 BD 2 BA Penthouse Historic Uptown Butte W/ Views
Over 4000 sq ft. of space with tons of light, views and historic character.
Four large bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen — and an absolutely enormous loft-like open space not to mention 15 foot ceilings, make for an experience unlike any other in Big Sky country. A raised area all along the south windows would be the instant focus for entertaining and also an endless source of inspiration as a sitting room or even a home office. The space Originally built to house the “manual arts” department at Butte High School, the building lost its purpose when the high school moved in 1938. (The main old high school building burned to the ground in 1946.) During World War II the Manual Arts Building served as a military induction center, and later would house the Butte Business College. Then, for years, the nearby Masonic Temple used it for its youth programs, DeMolay and Rainbow Girls.
Because of the building’s original construction as a school facility, the stairways are immense, more than eight feet wide. Everywhere, the light streams in — more and more as you go to the upper floors. Pets are welcome, but we do charge an extra $50 cleaning fee to make sure the space is usable for guests that might have pet allergies. Guest access Please note the loft is on the 4th floor of this building and requires some significant climbing up the large sets of stairs. If you or anyone in your party are not comfortable with this set up, our place might not be the best for you. Access into the building is a set code that will be given out the day of your arrival. There is another door (that will have the same code) to enter the loft space.

Loved our stay in Butte in this beautiful historic building! Great location! The large space was clean & perfect for our big family. Also, Jeff was a wonderful host & quick to reply to our question. Would definitely stay here again!
Place was great! Had 10 of us stay there for a golf trip and this spot was perfect. So much space, walking distance to everything and the place itself had everything for entertainment.
This was a great place for two families to stay! We stayed here over state basketball and it was a fun place for kids to hang out between games. Lots of rooms, perfect location. Will stay here again!
We had such a wonderful time. The view and the atmosphere was comfortable. The 5 of us loved it. It was the dream loft apartment. After climbing 4 floors for four days we were in better shape. I’m a personal trainer and it was truly a good workout. I do wish it had a dumb waiter for the groceries and luggage though. The host was very communicative and helpful. I’d love to stay there again!
Stayed here during a weekend girls trip to Butte. A beautiful historic building. Lots of stairs to get in and out of the property but wasn't an issue. The views from the big windows made the climb worth it! Jeff was helpful with the check-in process.
We had a fantastic experience staying here with our 6th grade class and chaperones! From the start, our host was absolutely amazing—super communicative, kind, and incredibly helpful in working with us to figure out the best sleeping arrangements for our group. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The location was ideal and the accommodations couldn’t have been better—clean, spacious, and perfectly suited for our needs. We’re so grateful for the hospitality and would absolutely stay here again!
My family was traveling through Butte and spent one night at the property. The space was unique and just as advertised. We had plenty of space and enjoyed the views and the ping-pong table.
Stayed here for a basketball tournament with 2 other families. The location was great, and communication with the owner was fast and reliable. The property was amazing!! Old historic building, big open spaces, ping pong table, karaoke machine and oh my goodness the views! We will definitely be back!
This rental was a ton of fun. We had a blsst playing ping pong and singing kareoke.
The location is great but does have alot of stairs so be prepaired.

This property is stunning with old history which I love! They have a little bit of everything for their guests .. it’s very dark inside though so it is hard to know what they have if you get there late like we did . The rooms are well done but the beds are not as comfortable as they look. The room to the right of the stairs has the most comfortable bed . Kids would love this place!! Please be aware you have 85 steps to the rooms! Parking is great ,lots of great restaurants within walking distance. The owners are great with communication , that helps if you get in late like we did. I would stay here again.
A few of my bridesmaids and close friends stayed here and got ready for my wedding here. The location was perfect, the views and loft were beautiful. It fit our wedding aesthetic perfectly! The stairs were a bit of a trek but everything about the loft was worth it. Perfect home away from home!
We had so much fun staying here. Had a blast playing on the ping pong table! Lots of history in the area and building itself. Lots of things to enjoy close by. Does have a lot of stairs and we knew this staying here. We looked at it as good exercise. Very open space and lots of room. Definitely would stay here again!
We used the VBRO for the Bride and Bridesmaids to get ready in. Great location to do hair and makeup. Lots of room for everyone to spread out. Lighting is great for professional makeup to be applied.
We stayed here while visiting our daughter who is attending Tech. We love this building and the proximity to all the things we were there to see and do. The ping pong table was a hit! The stairs didn’t even bother us. Just made us laugh at how out of shape we are. This is a beautiful open space with a neat view.
Everyone in our party said WOW as soon as they entered the apartment. The main area is vast and incredibly comfortable. There are tons of amenities and games to play. All of the bedrooms were great to sleep in.
The one thing no one can beat is the view. It’s truly a once in a life time place to stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Jeff’s place is so unique to Butte. The location is perfect, close to everything you want to see. The place is very large with plenty of space for a family. We got a kick out of the stairs, walking through halls with offices & mining posters on the walls. You aren’t sure what to expect when you reach the top floor. When you do arrive to the loft, you’re blown away by the space. Butte is full of hidden gems and this is one of them.
I am a frequent vrbo user, and even own/list my own properties in various parts of the property. This penthouse was a really cool stay. While the furnishings and finishes of the property itself were a bit outdated and nothing special, the character and charm of the property was amazing. Located on the top floor of a historic building in uptown Butte, you view over the city and mountains is unmatched. You are walking distance from great restaurants and night life, and essentially have the building to yourself with businesses located below that remain closed during the nights and weekends. My kids had an absolute blast with a ping pong table, board games, and wide open floor plan to wild and play. The host is super responsive and accommodating. We used the property in place of a hotel for a high school basketball tournament over the weekend, and would absolutely come back our next time in town. If you aren’t picky on nice finishing or furniture, this is great choice for families or larger parties.

We enjoyed this unique place. Beautiful views and a great place to enjoy large family time.
Wonderful open space with a knockout view of Butte and the surrounding area. The penthouse is clean and quiet. A perfect place to spent time with family and use as a base to explore the area.
Great property if you have a large group. Location is within walking distance of downtown. Jeff was an amazing host who responded quickly to all question. Would highly recommend this location. Just know though it is a pent house in a historic building so there are a lot of stairs.
The place itself was large and comfortable to stay in. Jeff, the host, was quick in getting back to me when I had questions. There were quite a bit of stairs getting up, but thats to be expected as it is a loft listing. Would stay here again if we go back to Butte
