Charming, historical hotel. My room was big, high ceillings, very comfortable bed, pillows, and comforter. The room was very clean. The staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful. There was a parking lot. The neighborhood is full of old trees and beautiful historic homes including the home, a Natiinal Site, where Teddy Roosevelt was inaugurated after President McKinley died. The hotel was centrally located a short bus ride, uber or 20 minute walk to the Buffalo Convention Center, a 20 minute walk or short bus ride to Elwood Village and a short bus ride to the AKG art museum. Walgreens is right next door and Starbucks is after that. Great experience. Unique hotel if you appreciate history.
This property really deserves to be evaluated in its own category. It’s a 120-year-old establishment that has preserved its historic charm beautifully. The space was spotless, the staff were friendly, parking was easy, and the pillows were exceptionally comfortable (this is important! IYKYK)
That said, it’s important to know what comes with staying in a building of this age: the walls are thin, the hallways are narrow, the bathroom light/exhaust fan is loud, and the windows are original single-pane New England style. For me, those details were part of the character, not drawbacks.
I chose this location for its aesthetic appeal, and it absolutely delivered. The pink subway tile in the bathroom, opening the window on a spring day to overlook the city, and walking through the lobby with its brass postal box and decorative wrought iron railings all felt like stepping back into a more elegant era. Even the vintage elevator—with its button panel and rhythmic sounds as it moved between floors—encouraged you to slow down and take it all in.
I was in Buffalo for a show, and staying at the Lenox added something special to the experience. If you appreciate historic, non-chain accommodations, this is a place worth supporting.
I will absolutely stay again!
