  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. We really enjoyed our stay here. The family loft was absolutely wonderful with more than enough space for our family of 5. The location was perfect. Breakfast was served in the most beautiful rooms and very delicious. We would highly recommend staying here, it was exceptional.

Além da localização perfeita, café da manhã incrivelmente fresco, o quarto é muito aconchegante. O nosso único problema foi com o travesseiro que todos são muito altos e tivemos dor de coluna. I did not realize that we would be staying at the most iconic home in Brugge. This property is breathtaking!! It was everything we wanted and more!!! We stayed in the cottage at Barabas. The property is directly on the canal and close to everything. Our hosts could not have been more gracious and accommodating. Loved the experience!!

We stayed at Hotel Barabas for three nights in the Residence Room and had an excellent experience from start to finish. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The service was warm and efficient, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. One of the highlights was the breakfast: fresh, varied, and absolutely delicious—definitely one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had! The hotel has a unique atmosphere with lots of character, and the location was ideal for discovering the city. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

This was a beautiful property located on the canal. The accommodations were excellent with easy check in and check out. We had the family room at the top which was extremely roomy and we all slept comfortably. The breakfast was delicious and fresh with the best service. It was centrally located and convenient to walk to all the local sights.

I recommend staying away.

If you like a well furnished B&B with excellent breakfast this maybe for you. However, if you are seeking somewhere that provides daily clean dry towels, clean cups, replaces used coffee pods, provides USB ports that are not tucked away in another room, and has an easy to use lighting system, then I would suggest you look somewhere else. Should you be unfortunate enough to visit this location, I would not recommend complaining, all that I got was a decades old cartoon character sent to me.

Our stay at Barabas Bed and Breakfast is the absolute best place weve ever been, weve been all over Canada, USA, and Netherlands, this property is exquisite and dreamy, the house is beautifully decorated. What a great B&B. Bert, the host, introduced himself before arrival and gave instructions for arrival as well as meeting my wife and I when we arrived. The hotel and our suite had old world charm along with a modern bathroom. Our unit had a separate entrance from the beautiful garden area that looked over the canal. When you walk into the unit there is a beautiful living room, small dining table and kitchen. The bedroom was on the 2nd floor of our little house. To get upstairs to the bedroom, the stairs are steep but easy to navigate. Great location and well worth the price!

Wonderful B&B on a quiet street but close to the main square. Walkable to all the sites, shops and restaurants. Stayed here with our daughters - took the two rooms on the top floor. Lovely rooms, air conditioned, delicious breakfast and pleasant staff. Picture-perfect place right on the canal. Did NOT want to leave!! Loved Barabas in quaint, historic Bruges. Thank you!

We loved Barabas and would book again if returning to Bruges. Our host was warm, friendly, and helpful. Check-in was a breeze, and breakfast had enough choices to make everyone in our group happy. Simply delightful

Bert, the owner, was gracious and warmly invited us in to his extraordinary space on the canal. The rooms were large with beautiful exposed beams and comfortable beds. The breakfast they made for us was delicious and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in Bruges.
