"The location is amazing but the lousy check-in had me thinking, “These people aren’t even going to try, why would they, with the lake right there?” Happily, the early-morning staff made up for the “prime-time” front desk (check-out wasn’t great, either). Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious, reasonably priced, and the waitress was pleasant and attentive. I’ll likely be back, because I plan to attend more shows at The Smith, and it’s an easy walk (again, location!). I’ll just brace myself for the rudeness and high-voltage disingenuousness of those at the front desk during check-in and check-out. P.S. Please don’t suggest that online check-in would have solved this. That’s just a way to collect data. It wouldn’t have gotten me my room key without the front-desk staff acknowledging my presence, which didn’t happen while they were on the phone taking a reservation for someone possibly arriving some months in the future. "

"This was our third time here - it has become an annual tradition for my husband and me. We love the cozy feel of it and that it is nestled in the woods with no one else around. This year, we did our annual outing to a winery and distillery, enjoyed meeting some new people and the live band. Back at the cabin, we made a delicious meal and played some games while enjoying the fireplace and battery-operated candle lighting. The water continues to be "stinky" but we always bring bottled water and "suck it up" when taking showers or doing dishes. We did have trouble with the DVD player (brought some favorite movies) and when that didn't work, we found a movie on the Roku TV. The light near the staircase also doesn't work, despite us bringing and trying new batteries. All in all, we had another fantastic stay and look forward to booking again next year.
