About this property
Boulder Town hillside perch in Escalante National Monument
Sunny, open-plan, small modern home at the edge of Boulder Town, literally minutes from world-class hiking, outdoor adventures, and creative/mindful pursuits. Nestled into a hillside, this quiet, restful space intended for couples or individuals, provides elevated views of the surrounding mesas and Boulder creek.
After a day of exploring the incredible landscape and features of the Escalante Grand Staircase, Capitol Reef, or any of the myriad nearby attractions, fall asleep with a blanket of silent stars overhead and cool breezes from your large windows. On a chill Fall evening, cozy up to the wood-burning glass front stove or head out to enjoy some of the most spectacular sunsets this planet has to offer.
The house grounds are beautifully surrounded by meandering flagstone walkways and patios among juniper and low piñon trees, creating a sense of privacy while inviting sweeping vistas of the area. This home is recently completed with continuing improvements to the property at large.
The property is well-situated off highway 12 at the edge of lovely Boulder Town, providing quick access to its amenities, including a couple of excellent restaurants, the wonderful Anasazi State Park and Museum, and very basic grocery/fuel needs.
Please note, the terrain is rough and the driveway is narrow and steep, with a tight-circumference loop at the top of the drive. Motor homes, vehicles with trailers, and some oversized vehicles will need to make alternate parking arrangements.
Additionally, please be advised the owner may periodically stay on the lower adjacent section of the property, which maintains a separate driveway, camper, and shed -- in a location well below the house, a moderate distance away. It is screened from house and patio views. If on-property, please know that your complete privacy and tranquility are of utmost importance, and will be maintained at all times!

Perfect place to use as a base on a 4 day hiking based stay. It is our kind of place and perfect for a couple. The owner was very responsive, kind and helpful. The place itself is very comfortable and peaceful.

Beautifully designed property with fantastic views.
We had a wonderful time in Boulder. The location is amazing located in close proximity to 4 National Parks. The house is comfortable and peaceful with everything you need.
This beautiful small house had everything we needed, wonderful outdoor space, comfortable interior. Great location for hiking, and several good restaurants in the area.
Beautiful, small home with giant views of picturesque valley outside Boulder, Utah. Comfortable, well appointed, and a great place to kick back or make home base.
We enjoyed our stay so much. We loved the hummingbirds, the view, the critters in the evening, the stars. What a wunderful place! We cooked ourselves and everything needed was available.
This home was perfect as a base camp for our hiking family vacation. The home was very well appointed and very comfortable. Loved the bed, and the pullout couch was very comfortable as well. We loved the outdoor space to hang out after our day. Neighborhood very quiet and dark for star gazing at night.
Loved our stay here while we hiked in the area. Home has huge windows with beautiful views, fully stocked kitchen, comfy bed. Enjoyed sitting out on the patio too. Hills and Hollows market had most of what we needed for food and beverages. Ate at Burr Trail Grill, highly recommend.
Wonderful small house on the edge of Boulder, Utah
This house is so well-designed, in both its interior and exterior spaces, to take advantage of its location. It was very well-equipped, and had all that we needed for our visit. Its location, near to both excellent local restaurants and to lovely wild spaces in this area, is hard to beat. Highly recommend!
Every detail of this home is so well thought out. The architecture, landscaping, and interior design fit perfectly into the natural landscape of the area. Can’t wait for the next opportunity to return.
Snagged availability last minute for one night for my husband’s birthday. Well worth the drive from the Ogden area in Utah! This place is even better than expected! We loved it! Would definitely recommend it and would definitely stay again! Be sure to check out Hell’s Backbone Grill, which is just a few minutes drive from this place. It was fantastic. What a fun little vacay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home—it’s very cozy, comfortable, quiet, and in a great location for exploring the surrounding canyons, hiking trails, and scenic drives. Communication with the owner/manager was easy and efficient. We are already planning a return trip next year! Janet & Marshall. October, 2023
Fantastic home in a beautiful location. I felt like we were staying in a piece of art! The location is close to amenities, but far enough from the main road to keep it's privacy and peace. I would stay here every weekend if I could. Right in the middle of several gorgeous Utah State Parks so you can vary your itinerary easily. Can't beat snowshoeing in Dixie National Forest, sightseeing in Capital Reef, & coming back to viewing a gorgeous view of the night sky from the patio in the same day! Highly recommend those location. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
What a wonderful place! A beautiful, modern house, alone on a hill, absolutely quiet surroundings. The large windows gave us the feeling of being outside inside.
Just look at the pictures. You'll get exactly what you see. We would come back again and again.
This place has such incredible views and so private. We love how there’s a super close Mini mart and coffee truck across the road and only few mins away from the Trailhead of Lower Calf Creek. Almost everything you need is provided and so cozy. Love the open plan and pieces of art, also instruction are well provided we just wish that we were able to use the fireplace and would recommend for the host or owner to provide atleast blinds for all the windows. The front door bolt also wouldn’t lock so we’re not sure if host is aware of that Overall, we would love to stay here again
The home is beyond beautiful with inspired art, decor, and home layout. The property is picturesque with a view of the nearby mountains which feed the grand staircase. A short drive to the national reef made this convenient for visiting local state and national parks. It is also a 1 min drive, 2 min walk from the only grocery and gas station in the vicinity. The hosts were beyond gracious, communicative, and proactive. I cannot recommend this stay or host enough, and if you have the opportunity, I suggest you jump at the chance to spend some time at this idyllic home. Thank you, Sarah!
Beautiful house on a hill overlooking the fields and Boulder surroundings. Well-furnished with nice amenities. Fabulous night sky view from the patio. Directions and instructions were very accurate. Be aware that there are a lot of glass windows throughout the house with no shades, curtains, or blinds (except for curtains over one of the bedroom windows.) This was not a problem for me as I loved the the views and the light, and there really is no privacy issue there with no nearby neighbors having a view into the house. There are limited eating choices in Boulder, so I brought my own food and enjoyed eating at the house. The house is just two minutes from the Burr Trail Scenic Backway, which in my opinion has the most beautiful back road scenery I have ever experienced anywhere. I drive this 35 mile road whenever I am in the area. Thanks for a great stay!
