The home was very clean. The location is excellent and we had no problems with the property. Checking in was very difficult. There was an extra step in the process to “verify” my identity that I thought was complete. I thought this step was complete after my credit card was charged. After driving 3 hours we arrived and our code was not valid. We contacted the “host” and attempted to remedy the situation. After speaking with the host several times, we were told that we needed to cancel the original arrangement and rebook directly with the host. Coupled with little to no cell service (the house WiFi was not available), we had to travel several miles down the mountain to get to a place where we could re-book the home. After spending 2hours trying to get in the house, we finally were able to enter. We have stayed in dozens of vacation rentals using different agents and hosts and have never experienced this type of situation. Last fall we traveled throughout Canada and New England staying at 12 different homes and never had any issues. The host needs to change their archaic methods regarding the check in process. To summarize, a long weekend getaway turned out to be anything but that at the start.
