Located on a glacial lake within the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Mohican Outdoor Center is operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club, the country’s oldest recreation and conservation organization. Staying at Mohican will provide opportunities to hike, fish, swim and paddle out your front door. Your stay supports the AMC’s ongoing conservation efforts. This 4-person private room is in a two-unit cabin. The room holds 2 bunkbeds, a table with chairs, a kitchenette and a covered unscreened porch which is shared with the second unit. The cabin has no running water. Shared bathrooms are available at the rec hall a short walk away. If both units in the cabin are rented by the same party, a door between the rooms can be unlocked on both sides of the door to allow for shared accommodation. Rental of the cabin includes pillows for each bunk but no linens or blankets beyond a fresh pillow case. Linens and blankets can be rented at the visitor center for an additional fee. There is a sandy beach at the north end of camp though there is no lifeguard on duty so swim at your own risk. Additionally, there is a boathouse with a fleet of canoes, kayaks and standup paddle boards for rent. Internet is available at the visitor center and cell phone service is spotty throughout the camp. The cabin has a pedestal grill for cooking. A communal fire ring is located a short walk away. Firewood is available for purchase at the visitor center. To limit the movement of invasive species we request that you do not bring your own firewood. No meals are included in your stay, though lunch can be purchased at the visitor center during the summer and fall season. The cabin is a short walk from the main parking area. You are able to gain vehicle access to the cabin for unpacking upon arrival and packing upon departure but we ask that you leave your car in the main parking area during the rest of your stay. Dogs or other pets are not allowed overnight in camp. Your stay also includes access to our free gear library. This includes items such as snowshoes, hiking poles and backpacks. You may take these on your adventures during your stay with us and return them when you depart. You can inquire about using these items upon check-in The Appalachian Trail is a short hike away from Mohican Outdoor Center along Rattlesnake Swamp Trail. Catfish Pond is a 35-acre pond with a sandy swimming area private to Mohican Outdoor Center. Fishing on Catfish Pond is another favorite activity of those visiting Mohican. Our staff is knowledgeable about local recreation opportunities and can point you in the right direction for hiking trips, fishing spots, and great locations to spot local flora and fauna on land and on the water."
