Absolutely great hotel. The hotel and bar are run by the local community to increase employment. The staff are so very helpful and friendly. The locals are excellent fun! A fantastic dog friendly hotel!

The first room had a leak but there wasn't a problem moving us. The location is just stunning. Didn't stay for breakfast. But overall a pleasant stay.

Good single room in this inn for a traveller at reasonable rate. Great basic breakfast, pay a bit extra for cooked stuff. Lovely friendly staff. I loved the bar atmosphere, a hub for locals and for Welsh singing and music-making (at weekend, when I was there, at least.) Good Celtic kind of "craic".

We stayed in a twin room during a walking holiday. All the staff we met were really friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and the beds comfortable. The room had everything we needed; the hairdryer was helpful as not all 3 star hotels provide one. We had dinner in the bar - we both agreed, it was one of the best bar meals we've had in ages! This was my first visit. It’s a community owned hotel, run by locals who raised a lot of money to take it over and open it up again. They have done a great job. My room was spotless and I told my wife I needed sunglasses on the bedding was so white. A large shower in the en-suite was very welcome after a long day. I had my evening meal there and it was very good,

Water bottle left in room when we arrived dead flys on window sill abit dusty in places… was asked what time we wanted breakfast so said 8 o’clock nobody turned up till 8:25 then told cooked breakfast wasn’t an option for weekdays which wasn’t specified…. But lovely views from our room

Clean and comfortable room. Good shower, lovely bedding. There was no remote for the tv so had to manually change channel, bedside lamp but no plug socket to use it. Breakfast was good, ample enough choice for continental.

I really enjoyed my one night stay at Y Pengwern. The bar was friendly when we checked in, and when I was shown my room was amazed at how big it was. I was backpacking and there was plenty of room to reorganise my kit, and the bed was large and very comfortable. After a long day's walk we were looking forward to food, and were very happy with the big hearty meals we had in the restaurant. Breakfast was continental (although you could pay to have a cooked breakfast) but the continental on offer was varied and there was lots of it. Would love to come back another time.
