Love the location. Staff that I met were v friendly. The food was excellent and well worth the stay. The room was comfortable and pleased to see coffee bags rather than the disgusting tubes of Nescafe which most hotels do. There were a couple pf things which werent so good but it wouldnt stop me staying again. In the evening the water took a while to warm up which was ok however in the morning it didnt at all. I had a wet shave waiting for it to heat up so shave was in cold water and shower was still running cold after I had finished shaving so ended up having a cold shower. The other thing is there is no wifi in the rooms or bar and I found phone reception quite poor. I enjoyed my stay despite these things. I will stay again if only bevause of the staff and the food. Beer was also good

Good value for the money.

Although a little tired in decoration I think this is acceptable for the price of our stay. Good value and a good location. Also the food in the pub was really good.

Staff very friendly, accommodating and helpful. Room was ok, cobwebs round the windows though, rest seemed clean. Water pump very loud and could be heard when other rooms were using it early in the morning. Decent budget option

Great Value For Money

A very pleasant stay in a tucked away little pub. The staff were very friendly & helpful and i had a lovely Madagascan Chicken Curry in the bar before i retired to my room. The bedroom was nice and warm and the bed very comfy. Great value for money

Cozy little inn

Absolutely great stay, friendly hosts & super helpful. Pub had delicious Chinese menu which my little one loved. Playground could use a bit of love & couldn’t turn the heating off in the bathroom. Overall delightful little place and would definitely be back.

Hotel was nice, and staff friendly. Food in the pub was lovely too. Walls however very thin, guests in next room had their tv on until 5am which meant we didn't sleep very well as we could hear it.

Right next to the canal, pleasantly appointed dated style rooms, amazingly busy when I arrived, warm welcome, arranged everything for me to have a meal that evening, even though that every table was still booked. Food Excellent, good service. Will definitely return when in the area.

We booked this last minute for Crufts. The room wasn't ready when we arrived but we were offered a complimentary drink at the bar, which was very busy, while it was sorted. Bed was comfortable, Room was old fashioned but clean if a little run down, however excellent value for money. Had great walks along the canal for the dogs. Would stay again.

We got a warm and friendly welcome as soon as we entered the bar. Although the pub is traditional and in a perfect setting by the canal it clearly needs updating as did our room. The benches are rotting away and the exterior is in need of a general tidy up. Our room was very dated and the beds old and uncomfortable. The bathroom was an adequate size though the shower was mouldy and hardly any hot water. We had to go back to the bar area which is downstairs and outside through a courtyard area to get a remote control for the TV and teabags as there was only 1. We didn't have breakfast as we stayed over for an early morning flight from Birmingham which was very handy being only 20 mins away. We had an evening meal which was Malaysian themed but unfortunately they ran out of my choice very early and I did settle for an alternative which was freshly cooked and tasty. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly but the pub itself and rooms definitely need refinishing.

Really lovely staff and the check in experience was very pleasant. The room was just about acceptable in terms of cleanliness but the toilet was not clean and still had used paper in it. The room and the surroundings were very tired and beyond worn in some places, especially the carpet on the stairs which was very dirty. As there was no breakfast, we could not comment on it. It’s such a shame because the setting is quite pleasant and it could be a lovely place to visit.

Interesting property

What a really lovely welcome we received!!! So friendly. Interesting old property. Bedrooms in the converted stables. Would have thought the area would be interesting to explore but we were on business. Dinner is Asian menu and very tasty, ample portions. Inn very popular with the locals. There are two drives to the Inn. One is tarmacked and the other potholes. Entrance not clear which is the correct one. Fortunately its the tarmacked one! We will stay there again.

Basic but good.

Basic accommodation. Pros- Clean Comfortable bed and pillows Good TV Pub onsite Food available Towels provided Friendly staff Cons- Feels remote but as long as you have a car or canal boat its ok. Phone signal is not great. I had 3 and Vodaphone, affected calls and internet connection. No wifi Would I stay again? Yes, for the price paid. No, if the price point raised without an increase in facilites and decor standards. Comment to the owners - I'd happily come back to stay a5 the price point I paid, and would love to try the asian food on offer.

TERRIBLE

Check-in was a nightmare, arrived at 3:30pm, nobody there as pub was closed until 5pm, managed to find someone in kitchen out back to let us into the room. The room looked presentable on first impressions but soon become apparent that the cleanliness was appalling, the carpet had been vacumed in some while as there were food crumbs and hairs everywhere, the walls and celings were covered in cobwebs and mold and skirting boards had rot so was crumbling , the bedshhets and towels were clean. The bathroom was another level of disgusting, 2 baby slugs on the floor, mold everywhere, the vent was noisy and covered in grime, overall the room is not fit for human inhabitation. Went upstairs to the pub for food, the lady behind the bar was rude and abrupt and had no manors, on the plus side the chinese food on offer was absolutely amazing and my complements to the chef
