"Simply wonderful!! Great location, beautiful scenery with lots of toucans and other birds on the property. The villas are brand new, very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and varied. Nilla and Stéphane were extremely attentive and friendly and had great recommendations for activities in the Bijuagua region. A real gem."

"Nicely decorated simple cabins with a true nature feel. Host was very welcoming and helpful. Loved the little details like the viewing outpost. Out of the main tourist paths which is what I was looking for. "

"This is a stunner of a place! The grounds are tropical gardens and each cabin is gorgeously designed with local and recyclable materials. breakfast in the garden is divine and dinner in the evenings is hearty with local farm fresh products. To top it all off the owners are so delightful and truly welcoming. A fabulous stay- one we hope to return to! "

"This house is great, is quiet and tucked away. We saw toucans every day from the pool. The view is incredible. The host always answered our questions very quickly and everything was smooth. It's in between a town that has everything you need and the national park Arenal. Great experience!"

"The Villa was wonderful. The grounds were like a botanical garden. We saw wildlife, howler monkeys, toucans and numerous birds, from the patio! It's location was perfect. The proximity to adventures and local restaurants was ideal. We would definitely stay here again. "

"This house was really a gem, well equipped and surrounded by nature. Just be SURE to rent a 4WD vehicle, as there are many steep and winding dirt roads to access the property with huge potholes and ruts. We knew about this area but if you have never been there be prepared for an off-road experience. Lots of birds and beauty make the effort worthwhile. Friendly and helpful caretakers. We had a lovely time:)"

"We really enjoyed our stay. The house is as pictured, it was clean and easy to check in. Beautiful views and not far from a few yummy restaurants! It’s a bit of a drive to La Fortuna but we did 2 activities (night walk and zipping) at CRParadisio which is close to the house. I would recommend this property!"

"We stayed in the hotel just one night and that was enough to see everything, but if you want to do more activities like rafting, zipline, or horseback riding I would stay for more days. The nature is all around the property, beautiful exotic gardens and lots of animals to spot. You need to try their products for hair that’s coms from their spa, hands down. I wish they had online shop I would be their regular customer. "

Kakao Lodge & Garden Río Celeste

"I can't say enough for what a great time we had at Kakao Lodge. I was skeptical at first since I usually like staying in my chain hotels that provide all the normal American comforts. But after staying here, my mind has totally changed. You can't describe how awesome it is to be able to see a half dozen different species of exotic frogs at night, or a sloth while eating breakfast, or tropic birds singing to you in the morning. And don't forget about breakfast. Everyday, we had homemade to order breakfast. Finally, if you're a gym rat like me, there's a gym that's $5/day to drop in that's a 3 minute walk from Kakao Lodge. We were also fortunate enough to be there while the owner, Laura, was there. Her and her husband are delightful people if you're lucky enough to get to meet them as well. If you want to experience the rainforest of Costa Rica while still having a comfy bed to go back to at night, I can't say enough for staying here. "
