Upon first impressions, I really wanted to leave a 1-star review. The front office spells awful. Our room was not ready at check-in and when we did come in, the fumes of Fabulosa had us needing to leave. And even though our room was late because of being cleaned the place was still very dirty. Stains on sheets and a lot of dirt and hair. But, I can tell that they are trying to keep this place going and it could’ve been much worse. When I inquired about the fire place not working, they fixed it. The heat cranks really well! The property is lake front as the pictures show, but the rooms and garden view are inaccurate. Please do not depend on the complimentary breakfast. The takeaway for us, was that housekeeping needs an overhaul and everything else could be overlooked.

The main heater is not working, so we are relying on a portable heater and the fireplace. Additionally, the bathroom door gets stuck and required someone to kick it open to get out. The staff is nice and I discussed the issue with them.

The staff was amazing and very accommodating and personable! The views were also beautiful as they are right on the lake. The only issues were the bed mattress and pillows not being very comfortable but overall, would go back. Enjoyed our stay there.

Honestly it wasn’t what I was expecting the rooms didn’t look like in the app the cleaning lady was really rude didn’t want to give us another toilet paper when I stayed the 3 nights everything in the room is damaged like the table the chairs where wobbly the price for that ugly place was ridiculous the breakfast that says included it’s not even breakfast it’s cold food not even being warm I will honestly tell all my family and friends to not go there ever worse experience at big bear for my first time I wanted to have a great time for my birthday really sad it went like this!!

Room still had some things from the last person who stayed there . The internet wasn’t working Smell like smoke in the bathroom They had a fire pit it only work one night and then it stop working , No house keeping, to throw the trash bags or towels

We arrived 15 minutes until check in time and the manager said we can check in with a $30 check in fee (which was on that’s their policy no problem). We decided to just wait the 15 minutes then check in. When we got to our room the small of gas was strong. My head started to hurt and my child that had asthma wasn’t feeling well. We tried to air out the room which didn’t work. My husband alerted the front desk she stated “it’s fine we just had the gas guy come.” No accommodation at all just “it’s fine.” We waited to see if the smell would go away it didn’t. We walked to the counter to alert the front desk that was also the manager about the gas smell. She was visibly upset about this. She rolls her eyes at my husband, snatched the keys from him and had a condescending tone. She said it’s fine but she will move us rooms and brought up that my husband didn’t want to pay the early check in fee. I’m not sure why that mattered!!! I didn’t feel comfortable staying there. 1- Her lack of safety concerns for the building 2- lack of concern for her customers and safety 3- She was the rudest hotel worker I have ever encountered in my life. We treated her with respect in conversation. I didn’t feel safe staying there. She bullied us and said she would not give us a refund, she stated Expedia would side with her and customers do not get refunds. I was shaken up with this whole experience, my children were very upset. She refused to give us a receipt. Please do not do business here!

The room was basic and dated, the fireplace offered no real heat to the room, there was an electric space heater that worked well. Breakfast was not really breakfast. I thought the room was very expensive for what was the reality. The counter person was friendly and helpful.

I stayed for 1 night with 3 other guests, got there less than an hour prior to check in so was hoping to check in a bit early due to being tired from our drive up the mountain & needing to use the restroom. The guy working reception was polite but the moment I walked into the office, he was on the phone w/ a woman on speaker. I’m guessing she was the owner but she was so rude, she was berating him, said it’d be a $30 early check in fee and then demanded he have me step outside of the office because she didn’t want me to hear them talking. After waiting outside of the office for 15 min I went back in the office to get a status (this was after the guy had returned from running back & forth through the property—my guess is to see if there were any rooms available/clean). He was still on the phone w/ that woman, and I politely said we just wanted to know if we can check in already as we had to use the restroom (there is no public restroom on site) otherwise we’d find somewhere to kill time. The guy working reception seemed overwhelmed w/ the woman on the phone and then said he cannot accommodate an early check in & will see us at 3pm. After checking into our room, we realized we only had 3 towels in our room so went back to the office to ask for another & they stated they were all out of towels. There was a lady at that time working reception & she was on speaker w/ the same woman who was talking in the same rude demeanor. Rooms were ok & shower had mold. Wouldn’t return.

Do not stay at this property. The manager is very rude and disrespectful. When I brought up safety issues regarding my recent stay, she got defensive and hung up on me refusing to help. There is potential mold and a bug problem. It is not safe to stay here

Everything in this room was old: the sofa was very old, the upholstery was frayed in places, the floors were dirty when we moved in, we asked them to wash them the next morning because the office was closed in the evening. We stayed there for two nights and the trash wasn't taken out. In short, I won't go there again.

This was hands down the worst place I have ever stayed, and that’s saying a lot. The cabin I booked wasn’t even serviced—mouse droppings everywhere, a carpet so filthy it was questionable to even walk on, and the entire place looked like it hadn’t been cared for in years. I had to beg for someone to clean it, and when the “housekeepers” finally showed up, they actually said they didn’t even have a vacuum and would just sweep. Seriously? And to top it off, at night you could hear rats crawling around. Absolutely disgusting. This place is filthy, rundown, and completely mismanaged. The ownership clearly does not care about guests or basic cleanliness. Save yourself the headache and stay far, far away.
