One very confusing experience is they never mentioned an actual couple lives on-site and are the hosts. They came by when we got there and were very kind and accommodating. "The apartment was clean and is set in a nice garden with a lovely pool area the rear. There are a few things to be aware of for guests that weren’t clear from the listing - and if they work for others than all good. The first is that there were no staff on site. Like an Airbnb, we were provided with an access code to the room that was activated at 4pm (so don’t expect to arrive any earlier and get access). The room was small, but nicely designed but did not have a small fridge. The nearest supermarket or bar is in the township, so even if you get cold drinks and supplies there’s no way to keep them cold. It’s not a long walk into the township, but won’t be for everyone. We dined at restraurants on the beach and drive to save on a fairly long walk back. Breakfast was fine and staff were in attendance at that time. Milfontes is a beautiful seaside town and swimming in the inlet is fantastic. This is good value for money, but the location is a compromise."
