Trendy hostel more suited to 18-35 but a friendly vibe and good bar. Friendly staff and airey rooms. Ideal location as quiet neighbourhood not far from night life

Avoid at all cost!
This would have to be the worst place to stay! It was dirty, noisy throughout the night and unsafe. Security was nonexistent as drifters from the street had access to enter the building. I would never recommend this place!

Not once—in my 4-night stay—was my single room (not a dorm) cleaned. Bed linen was dirty with chocolate (hopefully) stains. And you must give a 10€ deposit for bedsheets and a tiny towel, which must be brought back at checkout. Worst: it’s overpriced when compared to other (better) hotels in the area. This describes SunFlower best: “Charge 'em for the lice, extra for the mice/Two percent for looking in the mirror twice/Here a little slice, there a little cut/Three percent for sleeping with the window shut”. Stay away!

Hi Daniel!Thank you for taking the time to give us a feedback after your stay. We're sorry we didn't meet your expectations. We do check on the private rooms during the stay and, for example, empty the bins, unless the guests are in the room at cleaning times. As we are a hostel and not a hotel we ask our guests to put on their bedsheets themselves - that is not uncommon practice in German hostels. Our linen comes straight from the professional laundry and thankfully it doesn't happen often that - although everything is hygienically clean - some stains didn't come out. We're sorry that this seems to have happened in your case. Please let us know right away, so that we can give you another set of sheets. We hope you still had a good time in Berlin!

Lovely, lovely staff! Quite a reasonably priced stay, which was very comfortable. Only critique was that the bedroom decor was a bit outdated in our room but for the price it was pretty good

Annoying system
Stupid system, they only have one key for the whole room, which is a dorm!!! I'm basically saying that every single person in the room will touch it and have it while they're at the same time tell us (customers) that we're not allowed to go in the building without a face mask and not allowed to have any visitors neither inside or outside the hostel. Like seriously what the hack?

Reception staff ignored me for a full five minutes at the check in desk when I arrived then dealt with a family who arrived after me which was irritating and rude but apart from that my stay was fine, room comfortable. The corridors at night were a little noisy but nothing that a pair of earplugs couldn't solve. The location was perfect for accessing all the fun parts of Freidrichshain and Kreuzberg and really convenient to Warchauer Strasser S and U Bahn.

The hostel is conveniently located nearby a train station. Staff was nice and the facility is very clean and spacious. The hostel is surrounded by abandoned buildings or buildings in construction; however, hostel has policy to only tell guest into the building if they show the hostel stay card, which is help and felt safe. Will definitely stay again!

Very friendly staff and sociable clean hostel. The kitchen is the best ive ever seen in a hostel. Really modern. Great location, especially if you're a clubber. But even if you aren't its great for exploring the whole of Berlin. The bedroom was a bit noisy in the morning due to street noise but its easily ignored. The €3 breakfast buffet is a bargain.

Comfortable, affordable hostel without Wifi access
The dorm has a lot of space. Although the building is old, the room itselle is morden Andy comfortable. The position is near the center. However, I cannot use Wi-Fi in the room and it is a big minus. The staff explains that My room is just renovated So matbe the Wi-Fi can not reach. I hope that They fix that in the future

Nice and Niche
I was recommended Sunflower Hostel by friends who stayed here in the past. I was not disappointed, within minutes of checking in I was sitting back with some of the people who were also staying there. The place was welcoming and was close to my favourite part of Berlin.

My stay was normal. The hostel staff is very friendly. And the visitors were very friendly and socialable. Different people got to know each other in the hall and talked to each other.

It was a good hostel and a great area. There was a payment problem which was really annoying to deal with but the hostel was overall good. The staff was super friendly. The rooms were really cool and clean. The bathrooms were clean as well.

Good all round place....
The room was fine and as comfortable as you would expect. We had a 7 bed dorm .Staff were friendly and even gave us some boiling water for our "pot noodle". Every door and locker in the entire place squeaked when opened ,which was quite annoying! They need to get a can of WD40 and go round all the doors, Other than that it was a good atmosphere all round.

Great for quick city trips, unpleasant staff
Don't feel there's too much point in complaining as a hostel's a hostel but there are a few things I'd like to point out. Instead of using keycards the Sunflower hostel has a single key per room system in use which is outdated and can present issues when you need to get to the room but someone else has left with it, meaning you have to travel to reception and beg for a spare. On my first night of arrival I had to do this and this leads on to the second complaint I'd like to mention - the rude staff. Both of the men behind the bar ignored me to talk to each other for quite some time while I was trying to organise a key for my room, and this was a very off putting experience as I'd been travelling all day and just wanted to go to my bed. After telling one of the particularly difficult staff members (the bald guy, for lack of better description) several times that there was literally no way I could get into the room he finally accepted that he'd have to give me a spare but the fact that he felt the need to be so mean to me and made it seem like the whole key loss scenario was somehow my own fault was incredibly off putting as I just don't see the need for such nastiness in general. I'd also like to add that this particular complaint only really applies to the two older men (again, sorry for the lack of better description) who work there as everyone else seemed pleasant enough. On a brighter note the €3 breakfast is a good bargain and the kitchen area/showers are excellent!
