  • The perfect 'beach house' experience awaits you at the Madrona Cottage at Pleasant Cove. The newly remodeled 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on the shores of Hood Canal has been the treasured jewel of our family for 4 generations and we can't wait to share the magic of this idyllic spot with you: A low bank waterfront with expansive tidelands gives you easy access to clams and oysters, and of course Hood Canal's pristine waters. Also famous for the warmest waters in Puget Sound reaching 70 degrees in Pleasant Cove during mid-summer. The waters of Hood Canal are perfect for all water sports. Madrona Cottage boasts a deep wooded lot (one acre) next to the salmon-bearing Stimson creek, separating you from the hustle-and-bustle and gives you a serene connection to nature. Unlike many homes on Hood Canal The Madrona Cottage is separated from the road by a wooded buffer.

    Enjoy your morning coffee from the wrap around deck of the cottage or launch one of the kayaks and explore Hood Canal. Send the Kids to the beach for beach-combing, swimming or join them in the woods to explore the stream. In the fall, experience the struggle of the salmon as they migrate from Hood Canal up Stimson Creek to spawn. Take the family on a nature walk up Elfendahl Pass Road (directly across from our driveway) as it follows the stream. The Tahuya ORV park is 6 miles away up Elfendahl Pass Road as well as a popular spot for shooting sports.     In the evening enjoy a sunset dinner on the deck with your 180 degree view of the canal and south shore lights. Cozy up around the fire pit, making s’mores or just sipping wine under the stars.

    Cottage amenities include: fully stocked, large, gourmet kitchen with brand new appliances, all the cooking utensils needed to prepare a gourmet meal, washer and dryer, Keurig coffee maker, French press, propane barbecue, shaded deck, 2 kayaks, 1 row boat. The lawn is big enough to accommodate your lawn games. The public boat ramp is a few driveways away and we have parking for three cars (or, with one car, even your ORV or trailered boat). Perfect for families and groups up to 7 people. We look forward to hosting you!

    Fall special: view the salmon returning to spawn in our creek in the month of November see reduced rates.

    **Note: Property is limited to 7 guests. With PRE APPROVAL, a limited number of day-guests may visit the property for an additional fee ($30 per guest per day-visit). Day guests may not spend the night.

Outstanding property close to everything needed. Home and property are very tastefully updated while still feeling like a place to relax on the beach. The water was very warm when we visited and our group loved the kayaks and small boat provided. A perfect place to get away close to grocery shopping and outdoor activities but far enough away to be peaceful and enjoy each other’s company.

Delightful beach property on a beautiful location of Hood Canal. Very clean. Has all the kitchen items you need, and beds are comfortable. The deck offers great views of the water.

So glad my husband booked this place. The scenery was nice right on the water and close access to restaurants and shopping needs. The host were super nice and very accommodating even left us a bottle of wine as a welcoming gift, the house was spacious and very clean , the kitchen was well stocked with supplies and spices along with all dishes pots and pans as well . Great patio out side with BBQ pit and views to enjoy with friends and family. They also have kayaks and a small boat for water craft enjoyment and they do have adult life vest f. There is an ac in the dayroom and master and fans in every room. They also have a smart tv in case you need to catch up with a game or have the family watch a movie although they have a table and chairs for board games. Our grandkids had such a wonderful time, we are definitely coming back

The house is very clean and it makes us feel like home. The owner was very nice to let our kids borrow some balls to play in the yard. It’s a family own for generations so they took good care of the property.

What a lovely, private experience - soaking in the views from the covered deck - enjoying the expansive yard and watching the tide come in and go out. Comfortable beds and roomy bedrooms. (They even had fans for the hotter nights!) We cooked in two nights, and the kitchen had everything we needed. (I was also grateful for the coffee provided for our stay!!!) Based on the reviews I read - there were only two that were not 10 out of 10! Both appeared to not "follow the rules" (which were very clear and easy to understand). We never interacted with the owners who live next door...and actually found it comforting to know that if something needed their attention, they were nearby to help out. It will feel like you are coming to your own home within hours of being there...and if you forgot to get specific groceries, or need gas, both are quite convenient in the nearby town! Also convenient to this home, a venue with excellent wine tasting options and lovely nearby parks. We would go back in a heart beat!

Kitchen was mostly equipped for what we needed, only things I would suggest that were missing are aluminum foil, zip lock bags, a decent oyster shucking knife and more spices, like paprika...Wi-Fi worked pretty well, depending on where in or out of the house you were, same goes for cell service.The house was definitely clean, and recently remodeled, beds were great!!

The house is amazing! Clean and comfortable, well stocked, spectacular view. Clam digging and oyster gathering right in front of the house. Tools provided. Host was very kind and helpful! Can’t wait to go back!

I grew up on Hood Canal and when we had to sell our property, I hunted for other properties to rent for my family. Earline's property is the best I've ever rented and my family looks forward to returning each year. The house is spotless and all the rooms have ample storage. Even though there is air conditioning with the windows opened we found we didn't need to use it. It's wrap around decks and tables outside offers multiple places in sun or shade to eat and visit and enjoy the beautiful beach view. The large front yard and beautiful Madrona tree offer a wonderful place to play, visit and sunbath before swimming in the WARM water. For Non swimmers there's boats and kayaks. The well stocked kitchen is beautiful and large enough to prepare and serve food for a crowd while enjoying the beach view. At the end of the day the large dining table gave our family a place to play the many provided games while the ample living room offered others the chance to watch the large TV. The two bathrooms, plus the outside shower provide plenty of bathroom/shower space for all. Even though Earline and her husband live next door, they were wonderful hosts. They would come over only if we asked them for something. Otherwise they left us alone. I feel so blessed they are able to offer their beautiful property and hope to enjoy it many more times.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the house and thoroughly enjoyed our week away from home. With its proximity to Seattle, Olympia, and the Olympic national park, we had easy access to explore the surroundings. The location was quiet and we had a chance to explore the beaches and partake in some yummy clams and oysters. Highly recommend the location if you're looking for a comfortable place to stay!
