Rustic Authentic Michigan Log Cabin

Get Away to an unspoiled environment, a place that has been virtually untouched, that is Beaver Island. Our cabin (Kelly's Point) is situated 40 feet from Lake Michigan on a 2 acre Parcel. The views of Lake Michigan and The Fox Islands are spectacular!

Getting to Beaver Island: The first stop is Charlevoix, MI, a Lake Michigan harbor city located approx 250 miles north of Detroit. You can also fly into Pelston or Traverse City airports and connect to Beaver Island Ferry (https://www.bibco.com/) or Island Airways in Charlevoix (islandairways.com). From Charlevoix take a quick 20 minute flight or the 2 hour leisurely ferry ride on the Emerald Isle. Either way, it's an amazing adventure!

When you arrive on the island you will find a place that will take you back in time. Slow, patient, friendly and Beautiful! You might want to stop at the Shamrock for a beverage after the ferry ride or take the scenic 20 minute drive straight out to Kelly's Point. Distance is measured by time on the Island, most of the roads have not been paved...it's just another way to make you slow down!

When you reach Kelly's Point the drive in is through a wooded pathway into a vast open area with scattered trees along the perimeter. Kelly's Point was first built in the 1930's as an original island cabin. It is in the process of being modernized, There is a functioning indoor toilet, outdoor shower, kitchen sink and electricity. Kelly's Point is very charming, with spectacular views of Lake Michigan. It is 900sq. feet, has a great front porch, and a wonderful beach. All furnishings are new or local antiques. It is the renter's responsibility to bring their own sheets and towels. Kelly's Point has a charming decor with an open layout which includes 11 windows, overlooking Lake Michigan. There is one bedroom with one queen bed. It is a perfect getaway for 2 people!

You may enjoy a good book overlooking Lake Michigan, walk the miles of sandy beach which are clear, pristine and unobstructed, take a swim in the clear lake water, explore the island and over 100 miles of roads, fish on one of the 5 inland lakes, roast marshmallows in the fire pit on the beach, admire the vast array of stars, discover some of the other islands in the Archipelego, visit the spa for a massage, play nine at the Beaver golf course, lounge on the patio, cocktails at Nina's, Donnegal Bay to enjoy the sunset, visit the CMU Biological center, or the 2 lighthouses on the island, Little Sand Bay, Iron Ore Bay or simply do Nothing! This is a vacation you will never forget and leave feeling truly rested.

We loved our stay at Kelly’s Point! The little cabin was everything we’d hoped it’d be and more. It was clean, well stocked and so dang charming. The views, the stars, the peace- it’s a week we won’t ever forget. Gerry was SO helpful with all our pre trip questions and made check in and directions so easy. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

A perfect getaway

This cabin is the perfect getaway! We celebrated our 10th anniversary here and couldn't have asked for a more peaceful and beautiful place to stay. We loved the rustic atmosphere and only wish we could have stayed longer!

Perfect honeymoon get away

Quiet Get-away

Idyllic romantic get away

Cozy, rustic cottage right on the water. Secluded and quiet aside from the sound of the waves on water and the wind. Warm fireplace inside and fresh crisp air off the water flowing through the windows if you wish. Simply beautiful, relaxing, and special. Loved it, thank you!

Cabin on the lake.

This is definitely an old cabin. Takes you back in time. If you want peace and quiet Then this is the place to be. Seen a few snakes and the mosquitoes were kind of rough but I would definitely go back.

Everything was amazing and comfortable and relaxing, only “issues” was a giant spider we came across in the bathroom plus all the little flies and spiders everywhere else but for a cabin on the water in beaver island it’s pretty much spotless

Sweet spot

Lovely little break from society in your very rustic piece of paradise. It's only a 1/2 bath as there is no shower or bath facility. When you say bring towels we naturally assumed bath towels not kitchen. Lol. Great experience .

Beautiful location

This was our 3rd year staying here and we have never been disappointed! It's a spectacular place to stay. There's so much rustic charm in the place. You see so much wildlife and the sunrises are beautiful. The entire island is like going back in time. There's not a single thing we would change. The owners are great as well. Our power went out and I messaged them to see if they could find out when it would be back on and they responded quickly. It ended up coming right back on though. We are already planning our trip for next year!!

We were suppose to stay at Kelly's Point but received a call from the owners that there was a Snake problem so they would have to place us at their private residence on the Island which was Eagles Nest. It was beautiful! Log cabin on the lake with kayaks and bikes to use! It was Private and quiet! It could have used a good dusting and cleaning but very nice!

Kelly's Point

Although the location of this cabin is spectacular, each day (and upon first entering) we had to deal with water snakes. This was unsettling to say the least. We paid for 4 nights but only stayed 2. In all I had to deal with 5 snakes over our brief stay.

Weekend birdwatching

This cabin was perfect for our weekend birdwatching trip to Beaver Island. We actually had many birds right at the cabin! Although we were in "high bug season" the screens on all the windows allowed us to open everything up and enjoy the crisp spring air and the sound of the waves on the beach. This cabin is rustic, exactly as the advertising says, but is clean and has everything you will need. Keep in mind, there is no place for groceries, etc on the south end of the island. Make a stop at the one grocery store on the island in town before you drive to the cabin. We enjoyed the weekend here so much as did our pup, Maddie!

Fun time on the island

We were there from sept 16th through 19th. The cabin is old as expected. It was clean but there are many personal items around that have been collecting dust. The queen size mattress is so old and smelly. Definitely time for a new mattress. That would make many happy customers. In addition to bedsheets, I recommend bringing your own mattress pad, blankets and pillows. Maybe extra flat sheets for the couch and chairs. The living room furnitures are fine but cushions felt scratchy. Although we never really spent time in the living room. Back porch is a nice place to hang out and look at the lake. It would be nice to have comforter chairs to sit on. There is only one old chair with cushion and a plastic chair. Bring your own lawn chairs if you can. Kitchen is sufficient. There's indoor toilet and outside shower, which surprisingly nice. No snakes or mice that we can see. Few flies, no mosquitoes. Due to strong winds, the waves were very loud, that, at night, it sounded like a hurricane. The morning we left, the wind died down so the waves sounded like normal waves. Very pleasant. We brought our own vehicle and kayaks. We hiked few trails that lead to different remote beaches. All are just gorgeous. Cable creek beach, iron ore beach, Donegal bay, little sand bay, Bonners landing, karl erber nature preserve. We packed sandwiches and have picnics. We had dinner at Beaver Island lodge - way over priced. Will not going back there. Shamrock restaurant was good but still overpriced. Water was pleasantly warm enough to swim in. In summary, we had a very pleasant stay. You get used to the cabin after the first day. There was no tv and dvd player, which was fine because we didn't need it after all. Beach by the cabin is very rocky. Which is fine because I love rocks and sandy beaches are everywhere. All points are rocky and the bays are sandy.

Perfect relaxing cabin on the water

If you want a relaxing weekend on the water, this is the place for you. Especially if you enjoy a handcrafted cabin and rustic charm. Absolutely can't say enough great things about the place. Great for couples. Just book a stay and see for yourself. Make sure you rent a car from Duffy, you will need one as its a 30 minute trip into town.
