Beautiful old building with great views. Heck of a climb to the top floor where our rooms were. No lifts and no help with bags. The mattresses were horrible - on all 3 beds. Afraid to speak with manager who checked us in - not friendly at all. Barked at my daughter when she asked for WIFI password (which was not given to us on registration). It was written on a piece of paper at his desk and she was told to read it herself. She thought it was funny how grumpy he was - but I was less than impressed. However, the breakfast was fantastic. Fresh, and served with a great assortment of jams and breads. Same guy served us. No extra friendlies with him - despite us thanking him. Couldn't even acknowledge us. Left without him at desk - he didn't seem concerned with making good impressions. Won't return here - am sure THAT guy doesn't care anyway.

Reasonably close shops and cafe restaurants nearby. Some parts of hotel building could be a little smarter but bar, restaurant and lounge areas pleasant enough. Staff very good and helpful. Breakfast acceptable but non availability of evening meal annoying.

Pleasant Stay

The room was clean as was the bathroom. The room was a bit dated but it was pleasant enough. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel so can't comment on that.

A lovely hotel, 5 mins drive from Bath centre. Walkable too in approx 15 mins, although we didn’t try it. Our room had a comfortable four poster bed, tea/coffee, plenty storage space and an en-suite bathroom with bath/shower. Although the hotel is quite old, It was very clean and furnished with objects from the era. Check in was simple, with a friendly, efficient gentleman. We loved it here and would definitely come again. Thank you so much.

Great hotel

The hotel is set inan amazing area. Walking distance to a shops. The hotel rooms were big and inviting. It was spotless and tidy. The bathroom showed some age but was perfectly functional. And as a cyclist you are very close to an old train track bed that is a shared cycle walking path with a tunnel that runs directly under the hotel. And into the main town centre.
