The room was very clean and the staff were pleasant. We stayed in a room with an elevator view. I would recommend getting the street or river view so that a window can be opened.

Brilliant location by the river with food options onsite, and nearby transport options. Lots of character a little noisy at night due to being above bars on riverside. Must be one of the best places to stay in Basel.

Great Location Staff and Breakfast

Great Location, Great service and Breakfast. Hotel is old but very clean. It was comfortable but was a bit noisy due to all the trams running by. We did sleep pretty well anyway :-) Very walkable to old town :-)

The location was excellent. Check in and out was painless.The room and bathroom was clean. The pillow was very thin and when in use it was virtually useless. The windows were over looked by a glass side lift and corridor windows which meant that the curtains had to be shut, normally not a problem but there was no ceiling light. Shower was also on the dark side as only a mirror light was there. No bedside charging was a bit of a nuisance. Breakfast was fine, cereals, cold meats,coffee and juices. Lunch outside was good with views to the river.

Check in/out easy. Breakfast was good. Staff helpful. The hotel is older-floorboards in our room had rough areas, hot water shower control didn’t work well, couldn’t switch between showerheads. Body lotion, liquid body/hand soap provided, but no shampoo. Towels are very thin. There is construction,with a crane, outside window but that was ok. City nice to explore & the Basel City card from hotel provides free public transport

Great central location. Clean and well kept. Old building is well maintained and has a nice rustic vibe. River view makes for a great atmosphere, but adds a bit of noise, which we enjoyed, but some may not.

A 5stars-3 stars hotel

It is a 5 stars -3 stars hotel. Nice staff. Continental breakfast- very well located in the center and nearby public transportation ( transport is free ). It is clean and very good for a three stars. A bit thin pillows, but overall very good!

East West stay

East West was a super location with a lovely room overlooking the river by the main bridge. Room was a good size and well equpped. Sadly no A/C and it was a very hot weekend, so just the fan was not enough! Also, forgot but swiss hotels dont hsve tea/coffee making facilities which is a shame as well

Great location!

The location of the East-West Riverside is amazing. Very convenient to many of Basel's tourist areas and has beautiful views of the river. It's clean, and well-kept with modern furnishings and decor. There was a small Christmas market (just food and beverages) right outside the front door of the hotel that we really enjoyed (early December). Breakfast was good but minimal, like an American continental breakfast. Only 2 complaints: flat pillows and the room was always too hot. We kept a window cracked open much of the time. But the pillows were an issue. They only give you one per person but it was so flat it's like not having one at all. I would highly recommend, just bring your own pillows.

Minimalist hotel

This hotel is VERY minimalist. No air conditioning. No comfortable place to sit. No coffee in the room. No help at the front desk after 3:00 pm. The restaurant and bar closed at 7:00 pm. The front door is locked at 8:00 pm so you must walk around back and use your room key to get in. The location is good and right on the river, very walkable to everything. Employees were nice.

This is a very hard review to write because the hotel was lovely. This is a great place for someone that wants to party into the night and then crash in their comfy bed. We were very happy with our peaceful room overlooking the Rhine River. Located right along the river walk for a lovely stroll, close to old town and shopping. We were there for the Christmas Markets and reserved a couple of extra days to explore Basel at the end of our River Cruise. Everything was perfect until 9pm rolled around and the club below the hotel started pounding music that was near impossible to get to sleep to. Even noise cancelling headsets didn't work as the walls were vibrating with dance tunes. We got very little rest especially on our last night then heading out to an overseas 14 hour journey. Not ideal. Breakfast was excellent, the staff were excellent. The place is also located along the Christmas Market party block - lots of folks enjoying a good night out. The club below with booming music was the problem.

Quiet room

I got a room with windows inwards to the elevator and it felt a bit claustrophobic not to be able to see out and open the window- But, it was so so quiet and relaxing without any noice from the outside world. So I was happy ! (I was offered to change if I wanted)

Cute place!

Nice a lot along the river. It was a little hard to get to because the street in front was blocked by a Christmas market so taxi dropped off a couple blocks away. Close to metro lines, shops and services. Room was good. Top floor Very squeaky wooden floors. Old historic building. Some staff didn’t speak English but we managed. Also they gave us metro passes for free so that was a real bonus. Picture is a view from our room!

Really lovely place, beautiful and quiet location on the river, I could see the river from my hotel room. Outdoor seating that gets most of the day sun until sunset. Staff lovely and super helpful. A good breakfast too. Would recommend!
