This early 18th Century antique home has been rebuilt with as many modern conveniences as the historical society would allow. Astride a branch of the Bantam River, a 1 acre pond and maintained 100-year old gardens, hence, Gardensbrook. Downstairs comprises a traditional Cape-style layout -- Dining room, kitchen and living area are conjoined -- in front of a magnificent fireplace. A library can be converted to an extra bedroom.
Upstairs, a giant master bedroom, a second bedroom and bathroom, all with original floors and exposed beams. An 18th C barn facing the pond and stream is a dream for outdoor entertaining with a refrigerator, water and more gardens. The house is exactly one mile from buzzing Bantam with its restaurants; Arethusa, Mockingbird and equidistant to Litchfield, Washington and New Preston. The walking trails of White Memorial and Bantam Lake are a mile away.
Gardensbrook is ideal for a weekend getaway, summer retreat.
Long leases are preferred.
Memorial Day to Labor Day, Leaf Peeping Season, etc.
Depending on the length of the lease, generally tenant is responsible for gas and electric. A good faith estimate at the beginning and end of a lease. Well behaved animals are welcome. Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the house or barn structures. There is a smoke/fire/carbon alarm and a burglary alarm system tenants are expected to use and follow all policies.
I've listed $5k per month as a guide -- Summer Rental - Memorial Day to Labor Day. Longer leases we'd reduce monthly cost. Longer the lease, lower the rent :)
