Close proximity to Hawksnest, Otter Falls -- and all the High Country offers!
Whether it's morning mist or sunset majesty, enjoy magnificent views from on top of the world in this fully-equipped, delightful and charming home from atop Hanging Rock Mountain. Watch the sun rise OVER the clouds below you as you relax in our hot tub, enjoy a cup of coffee from the deck, or from the comfort of the living room. Fire up the wood-burning stove for those cool nights, or open the windows to let the breeze in on the summer nights.
Honey Bear House is literally walking distance from Hawksnest resort and just minutes from Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk and Valle Crucis. Wanna ski? Check. Wanna hike? Check. Wanna lounge around and do nothing but just relax in the hot tub? You can do that too.
Families will love the location near snowtubing, ziplining, Grandfather Mountain, gem mining and more. But you don't even have to leave; Honey Bear House is equipped with cable TVs, wi-fi, a DVD player and foosball.
Both bedrooms feature Queen beds with all linens. (There are also two Queen sleeper sofas with linens as well.) A fully-equipped kitchen (completely renovated in April 2011) is longing for a gourmet cook's touch. The home also boasts two full baths and an outdoor hot tub, overlooking the wonderful view.
NOTE: A 4WD vehicle is necessary for the winter visits. A view like this doesn't come easy!
Also, please note that we do NOT have A/C. (Most homes in the High Country do not.) If it's warmer than usual, we do supply some fans. Keywords: chalet, roundhouse, long-range view, mountains, hot tub

Owners were very accommodating, property was clean and nice! Great view! The hot tub took some time to warm up, but once it did, it was absolutely wonderful. Owners were easy to reach and very responsive. Great hiking less than a minute drive away!
Our family booked an end of year retreat and found a gem. Views were amazing and location was great. Matt was very responsive and would highly recommend.
This place had everything needed to enjoy a get away weekend in the mountains. Great views. Easy drives to Banner Elk, Grandfather mountain winery, Appalachian parkway, several good hiking opportunities to waterfalls.
Very enjoyable.
Our stay at the Honey Bear house was magical. The house had a stunning view of the mountains, had all the amenities as advertised, and was really comfortable! We felt on top of the world, yet had all sorts of hiking, a grocery store and other local amenities within a 10 mile radius. The hosts were super responsive to questions from booking to past checkout. We’ll be back to Honey Bear for sure!
This pie in the sky octagonal home is SWEET! Located in Seven Devils, my friend and I found the perfect logistical spot - close to Banner Elk, Linville & Boone. We hiked nearby Otter Falls, traversed the Blueridge Parkway, saw Linville Caverns, Hiked to Linville Falls and went to Wiseman’s View. Excellent restaurants nearby. Tin Trout, Peddling Pig, Bella’s & Lunas.
The house is more than adequate. Well equipped kitchen. Have a 4:5 on cleanliness only because cleaning person apparently dislikes dusting…. Perfect getaway for adults. The configuration has steep stairs I wouldn’t advise for young kiddos for safety reasons. We enjoyed the hot tub every night. The views cannot be beat and that’s why we came. If you want a warm and cozy place to stay that’s more rustic than pristine. This is the perfect place to stay. We look forward to visiting again and again.
This place is a gem. We enjoyed the wonderful view and waking up for the sunrise is a must do when you're here. The location was perfect. Lots of great places to eat around Banner Elk and close to Grandfather Mountain if you're looking for a challenging hike. The house was spacious and I appreciate it being dog friendly. We had a wonderful time!
Overall this is a great stay in the mountains. Close to hiking trails and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin has everything you need. The owner is extremely responsive and answers messages right away! I only gave it 4 stars because some aspects of the cabin were worn and need updating.
I loved my stay at this property! The views were gorgeous in the house was clean and charming. Seven Devils is a beautiful, conveniently located community about a half an hour away from Boone and 15 to 20 minutes from Banner Elk. The location of this place made it easy to navigate all around the high country. The hot tub worked perfectly and was very user-friendly. The heat in the house was great, which was perfect because it snowed when I was there. despite the snow, all the roads, leaning up the mountain to the house were clear and the roads leading up to the house were clear as well and easy to navigate. I can’t recommend this place enough and I hope to return soon.
We loved our time at The Honey Bear!! The cutest cabin with every comfort we needed!! Can’t wait to stay again! If you stay, check out Otter Falls hiking trail! Matt was incredibly responsive to any messages before and during our stay! ❤️
Thank you so much for letting us rent this beautiful place! The accessibility to Grandfather Mountain and other attractions was the perfect distance. We appreciated the updated kitchen and functional hot tub. Make sure to bring all food supplies, as there are plenty of dishes/bakeware/appliances, but few staples like spices, oil, or coffee.
The pictures on the listing really undersell the rental! The living room is way brighter and nicer than it appears online, and the updated kitchen is missing from the pictures. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We had a scheduling mishap upon arrival, but the property managers were very responsive and were quick to make it right. The home is perched on a mountain side with a cluster of other homes, right next to Hawksnest tubing. Spectacular view of the mountains from the living area and the hot tub. The wood burning stove worked flawlessly and made the house toasty warm. My family throughly enjoyed our stay although the master bed could use a replacement.
