Welcome to one of our newest family members, "The Acorn House", Nestled in the woods, our home offers 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps a maximum of 6 guests. We are sorry, but our home is not pet friendly.

“The Acorn House” is located in the heart of the High Country. This unique 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom round cabin can accommodate up to 6 guests, sits in the mountains located inside the beautiful Mill Ridge Resort community with amenities including tennis courts, heated outdoor swimming pool (Memorial Day through Labor Day), the Watauga River and beautiful hiking trails! This cabin offers an ideal starting point for all of your mountain adventures as it is central to all High Country attractions including Grandfather Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Sugar Mountain, Hawksnest Tubing and Zipline Resort, Beech Mountain, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, the Wilderness Alpine Coaster, Gem Mining, golf courses, hiking, biking, horseback riding, ASU and so much more!! Most all of our attractions are located within 5 - 20 minutes from our home! Great location with all paved access.

The property is centrally located in the High Country (distance is approximate): 10 miles to downtown Boone/Appalachain State University, 9 miles to downtown Banner Elk, and 10 miles to Blowing Rock. In addition, we are 6 miles from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, 15 miles from Beech Mountain, 11 miles from Appalachian Mountain Ski Resort, 14 miles from Grandfather Mountain, 20 miles to Linville Falls and close to multiple access points for the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Inside: As you enter, you’re greeted by an open and spacious open floor plan. There are 2 bedrooms and they are joined by a Jack & Jill bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The 1st bedroom offers 2 sets of twin/twin bunk beds and a Smart TV with streaming apps (using your log in information). This bedroom is heated and cooled with a quiet mini-split unit with remote control.

The 2nd bedroom offers a queen size bed, Roku TV, and mini-split for heat and AC. The laundry room is just off of the queen size bedroom with a full size washer and dryer for your convenience. Each bedroom has its own private entrance from the living room.

The living room offers an electric fireplace, Roku TV with Netflix provided, along with comfortable seating. The 2nd full bathroom is just off of the living room with a step in shower.

The step saver kitchen offers a regular coffee maker, microwave, fridge, electric stove/oven, crock pot, griddle, blender, silverware, dinnerware, cookware, and etc. However, there is no dishwasher. The dining area offers seating for 4.

Outside: Sit and enjoy Mother Nature on our side deck or take advantage of our gas fire pit with seating. The access has level entry into the home (no steps) from the parking area.

***Important Note: The parking is limited to 2 vehicles.

Endless dining, shopping and stay excursions are all just minutes away. Mill Ridge Resort offers our guests great amenities (weather permitting). “The Acorn House” is surrounded by all the fun and excitement you can imagine. Just minutes away you’ll find all of the local attractions and fun for your entire family and friends.

***4 night minimum for the Thanksgiving holiday
***7 night minimum for the July 4th week and Christmas/New Year holidays

As you plan your trip to the mountains, please remember we do get rain, snow, and some foggy days with occasional inconveniences which are out of our control. Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be icy in winter weather. For the safety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive, good tires, and chains. It is YOUR responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions. There will be NO refunds, allowances, or date changes resulting from your negligence in this matter.
