Unbelievable property! Really so fabulous and relaxing. The staff were gracious and attentive. The grounds are amazing and the food was divine. Bike rental from the property was easy to make excursions to neighboring towns. A very romantic property.....highly recommended.
A rustic luxe property with superb service in grand European style. The grounds are beautiful and the spa is fabulous. The chef’s menu choices in the restaurant are masterfully prepared and served with grace and elegance along with a lovely selection of wines. This is a place to lose yourself in decadent pampering and peace. Thank you, Château de Bagnols, for a delightful experience.
A recently restored castle on the beaujolais route. 5 star throughout, sophisticated but not stuffy, friendly yet prodessional & respectful. Tasty delicate delicious food cooked and served to perfection. And the views with scent of lavender ---wow!! This is Eden!
Beautiful hotel in stunning setting. As a family of four (including 2 teens) we all rated it and it felt it was a privilege to stay. It was like staying in a slice of history.
Only negative - no shower but 800 years ago I imagine this was less of a concern frankly.
Luxury experience in one of the worlds oldest castles. A romantic getaway for couples who like quiet and tranquility. We enjoyed a Michelin star meal as well. I’ll be coming back here again.
Loved our stay here, such a magical place where every possible comfort has been considered. The outdoor pool was a particular treat on a hot and sunny day! One tip though, breakfast is ridiculously expensive at 35 euros each for a standard buffet breakfast, and dinner here is wonderful but again very overpriced for what it is. Recommend driving short distance to Bois D'Oignt each day for fresh bread for breakfast and lunch, and eating at restaurants in nearby Oignt for dinner.
Superb hotel. Huge room. This is a destination hotel and exudes history combined with luxury. Unfortunately restaurant was not open due to lack of staff. Instead we were offered cold plates which were of great quality and eaten on the terrace overlooking a stunning valley. Staff were very efficient, helpful, friendly and very professional. Truly a memorable stay.
Unique and beautifully appointed 13th century chateau. Service was spotty because of end of season w limited staff. Otherwise, just beautiful! General Manager was an excellent host.
One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed, both the hotel and location are stunning and the room was fantastic.
I would highly recommend dinner at 1217, use of the spa (including treatments), and a wander around the village and the grounds.
We also greatly enjoyed a recommended visit to Domaine des Voûtes Dorées winery. Camille was fantastic.
The only slight fly in the ointment was an issue with the booking. However the staff and management could not have been more helpful, friendly and professional, and it was resolved to our complete satisfaction.
I would definitely visit again.
Great hotel, delicious food (very expensive but Michelin star so expected), room was fantastic. Swimming pool could do with a renovation as seemed a bit dirty and not really the type of place you’d want to swim but overall was a lovely experience.
Absolutely stunning property (800 year old castle) and INCREDIBLE staff! The team go out of their way to make your visit special. We were celebrating a birthday and as the hotel was fairly empty the night we stayed, they upgraded us to a magical suite covered in 18th century frescoes. The room was jaw dropping and had a beautiful view of the French countryside. Dinner was delicious and inventive... and we were able to sample a few Beaujolais wines, to include a sparkling red! Our son loved swimming in the pool. I cannot recommend this hotel enough... it is one of those places that makes you feel lucky and grateful to have the privilege of staying there.
This was a beautiful getaway in the heart of Beaujolais, Beaujolais, surrounded by beautiful grounds and rolling hills lined with vines. The staff we extremely friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible.
Our room was large and we felt we were transported back in time, with arrow slits in our separate living room and a throne toilet.
Dinner, although no longer the same Michelin menu and the same choices for lunch, was an extremely good attempt to regain their star. The sommelier in particular was very friendly and knowledgeable.
The only downside was that despite being in the middle of Beaujolais, there were not many options for doing vineyard tours, especially over a weekend or if you are only in a two. And if you were staying for more than a couple of nights, the dining options were very limited. We were recommended a very good restaurant in a nearby village less than 10 mins drive away, but cost us a EUR50 taxi. And by 10pm, no taxi companies were picking up the phone to take us back. The waitress had to drive us. Difficult to get around if you're planning on sampling wines and therefore not driving.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay, but baffled by the lack of options if you were not driving (particularly when in the wine region!)
This was our second time staying in this remarkable piece of history. 800+ years to be exact!! It is a magical place with excellent service and food. It is a pleasure to be a part of this spectacular hotel.
