Patricia is a fabulous host who provides a great breakfast and nothing is too much trouble for her. The property is quirky, comfortable, clean, and in a central location to Cheddar, Weston-super-Mare, and Bristol.

Such a lovely place to stay, the house is so interesting. Patricia the owner made us feel really welcome and the standard of everything provided was very high. Everything we could have asked for was provided, so many little touches which showed care and attention to detail. Great breakfast with lots of local produce and really comfortable room.

Beautiful B&B with great history and character

A beautiful B&B with such lovely character and history. Patricia was a fabulous host and made us a beautiful breakfast, all locally sourced. Axbridge is a lovely location and only a five minute walk to the local pubs & shops. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!

The house was beautiful and the host fabulous. The location is really good too only being a few miles away from Cheddar and 12 miles away from Western Super Mare. There's a couple of pubs in the medieval square that sell good food and only a 5 minute walk from Compton House.

Incredible Place with a fantastic host.

Patricia was wonderful. Made us feel exceptionally welcome. On arrival we were even offered a complimentary local ale (which was delicious). The room was cute, clean and as you would expect from a house that's approaching it's 400th birthday. If we're ever down that way again, we'll be staying there.

We had an exceptional stay at Compton House. Our room felt luxurious - it was beautiful, spacious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable, with a great bed that guaranteed us a perfect night’s sleep. Patricia was a wonderfully welcoming host who made us feel completely at home and truly spoilt us throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious, with an impressive variety of food served in a spectacular dining room. The entire house is elegant, warm, and stately, filled with interesting art and antiques, yet still homely and inviting. It’s peaceful, beautifully furnished, and perfectly located with amazing walks and stunning scenery right on the doorstep. We couldn’t be happier with our stay - highly recommended.

This is a lovely old house on the edge of the gem of the small town of Axbridge. The house has individual rooms, individually decorated and positioned. Our South Room was clean, light and airy, with a very comfortable double bed. Patricia, the host, was so helpful and thoughtful. Even though we had an early leave in order to catch a flight, she provided us with tea and coffee at 0630! What a star!

Lovely Stay - Definitely Recommend

We had a 2 night stay, though wanted to stay longer. The Compton House was lovely. We explored the grounds and loved the garden seating area. Patricia was very welcoming and made us feel at home. She was soo accommodating. We had access to the rest of the house which was like being in Bridgerton. Room was clean and cosy. Homemade fruit compote for breakfast with breakfast made to order. Great selection of fruit, yogurt and teas. Very well located for visiting Cheddar, Axbridge and Wells. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.
